Registry Question: Knife Sets

What kind of knifes to you have? Why? Do you like it? We registered at Kohl's and Linen & Things so it would help if it was from theses stores or else we'll have to buy them ourselves after the wedding.

Thanks in advance

Re: Registry Question: Knife Sets

We registered for a set. Literally EVERYTHING from our registry was bought for the shower...but the knives. It is bad luck to buy knives so I am going to have to buy them myself.

We registered for Wustof knives. We already received them as an engagement gift and are very happy with them.

They are a high quality brand and should be carried in both of those stores.

Re: Registry Question: Knife Sets

My mother gave me a set of Farberware knives when I was in college. I think that they are just ok. My father has Cutco (for over 35 years) which are excellent so I've always compaired the Farberware knives to that. They don't measure up.

I registered for Wusthof. Henkels is also good. (Cutco is not sold in retail stores.)

We registered for Henkles. They are a great brand. Don't know/never used the others.

i think that is what we registered for... but i doubt Kohl's or linens and things carries this brand

we registered for them separately because they were about $400 a set so we figured if people wanted to buy them individually they would

Cutco knives are really good, but you can't buy them from a store. The best ones that you can buy from a store, IMO, are henkels.

Go for a Henkels set, they have a great reputation, are fairly reasonable for the quality. I would recommend getting the straight edge set not a sarrated one, I think they call it fine edge. My FH always says 'there's nothing like a good knife'!

i was given a henkels set for my shower with a penny taped to it for good luck. i havent used them yet but my father had a professional henkels set for years and he loved them.

Henkels. We didn't need a whole set as FH and I have both lived on our own for years but we decided to upgrade. The man at BB&B who helped me said that the knived are bought by the people who wait until the last minute to buy you a gift... they look on your registry and all they see are the knives. Now I'll know who the procrastinators are.

i do a TON of cooking. i already own a set of Henkels. They are wonderful, well made knives. I would also suggest Wustof. Again, really great - but pricey knives.

a less expensive brand is Sabatier. They are pretty decent for the cost

We registered for Henkels, but I was told that I would not get them because it would be bad luck.

Re: Registry Question: Knife Sets

I think we are leaning towards this set now. FH doesn't think anyone would buy us a more expensive set and its very complete. It has a lifetime waranty so we think it might be a safe choice. We are going to go to LNT to test them out first.

Why is buying knives bad luck?

I've never heard of that. We registered for Henckels, but thgouh they were too expensive, so we changed it to Farberware instead, but then FH's aunt bought us a different set of Henkles b/c she didn't know about our registry,so we took teh Farverare off.

We are very happy with the Henkles.

I also have a set that came included with the Cuisanart pots we received as a shower present.

I'm not sure why its bad luck, but if you give the knife with a penny, it makes it okay. So I've heard.

I am not sure why, but its the same reasoning how you cant use a knife to cut open any packages at your shower.
