registry questions

so FH and I registered but not for very much. we have a very small place and not so much room for stuff and already have a lot of what we want. . do you think if everything gets purchased off our registry then folks will give us cash or will they start buying random things. .. I just don't want a lot of stuff but don't want people to stress about what to get either. . thoughts

TIA

Re: registry questions

people will probably give cash or gift cards if the registry is full.

You can always add to your registry as time goes on if you decide you need something. Don't feel pressure to register all at once.

If someone wants to buy a gift instead of giving cash, they'll give a gift whether there's anything on your registry or not. Is there anywhere you and FH can store things until you get a bigger place one day? Maybe a parent's house?

I agree that people will probably just give you a check or gift card if they don't want to bother with the registry. They will also likely give you whatever they feel like from a store if that's their thing.

FMIL likes to get people towels. And she rarely pays any attention to registries.

You can see where that goes... ::sigh::

she means well

It depends on the person. Some people will give you money... Others will buy you random gifts, even if you have stuff on your registry!

ppl will prob get PO'd if u dont put enough on the registry. I know when im shopping for some1, i hope theres a big selection.. and am not limited to 5-6 items. if ur hoping for cash, just register at bbb and return everything. otherwise ppl will be getting u stuff u dont like.

I think people will just buy random things, I'd feel funny going to a shower with cash. But maybe a bed bath and beyond gift card.

oh yeah. .def not for shower. . this is for the wedding. .I only had about 10 people at my shower so it wasn't an issue. . I made sure I had lots of small things on for the shower b/c I didn't expect big gifts at all. .

not even. . my mom has put a TOTAL kibosh on storing anything there. . she doesn't even want to keep my old stuff

it's true I might want stuff later but we live in the city in a 1 BR and even have a small storage space to keep our summer/winter things when they're not in season so we really have no space

but I think you all have a point that it seems wrong to 'force' people into giving cash b/c we don't have anything. . sigh. . just dont want things. . .

THANKS for being a sounding board!!!
