FH and I werent going to register at one of our locations because I was worried that we wouldnt be treated the 'right' way because neither of us dresses like, or acts as if, we come from money. We went to register a few months ago and had a great experience. The past few times to update have been great as well.
Well today... was awful. One of the sales people in the jewelry department had me in tears. The way she talked to and treated me and my FH about the price of a necklace. She told us that in order to show it to us, she'd have to call security over. W T F?? I know for a FACT that is not their policy. There was a lady standing next to me wearing a necklace with a $200,000 price tag on it, and you need to get security for me?! She then made a comment about how they were real diamonds, and how she bets i was hoping it was Swarvorski and that the clearance section was around the corner.
I was so embarrassed and ticked off... Then FH and I were blatantly ignored in the ring department when we were shopping for his wedding band. Another customer was approached before us even though we'd been waiting for 5 minutes... when he said that we were there first, the sales lady looked at us said 'okay...' giggled and walked off. it happened again a few minutes later.
I complained to the bridal registry attendant, she got us the Floor managager on duty as well as the jewelry department head. They were super ticked about the situation and said that they were going to review the security tapes to see who treated us that way. They gave us a gift card to make up for our experience.
I told them if it happens again, I'm deleting the entire registry and going to one of their competitors.
I feel like such white trash right now...

FH & I don't dress up at all really either and we have had similar issues - being ignored in certain stores, etc.
I'm glad that management at least seemed pissed off & seem to want to do something about it...

Oh, the management seemed genuine. They gave us a gift card... which was nice, but it was for $25. Which won't buy much at that store LoL. It was a nice gesture... but... I dunno.
The jewelry department manager wanted to help us right then and there with the rings and what not, but i was fuming and just wanted to head to Happy Hour lol. She gave me her phone number and her name and told me to call the next time we are going to the store and she will personally assist us in that department. She also said that if she is not there b/c she is going to florida for vacation for a few weeks to ask for specific people and she will tell them to expect to hear from us.
I don't feel so bad about myself anymore... now I'm just super pissed at them.
I posted this site earlier and I think you could use it right about now. Just picture those sh itty salespeople...

aww... i hate to say it... but as an African American female.. stuff like that happens to me ALL THE TIME!! it ***** doesn't it.. people look at the outside without thinking bout the person inside.. I'm glad you reported it to the manager... now u sould take the gift card and sell it on ebay.. how much was it for? then spend the money u make on ebay in a store that treats you right!!

I have a feeling I know where you were. If it is there, they are used to having high falutant people there who actually buy $200K necklaces and look at people like they are a comission check.
Im glad you said something, No one has the right to treat you that way, Especially since you are registered there!!!
