I dont want to look like a greedy bride- but I also know that my BP really wants to suprise me so I dont want to keep looking at my registry to see if I need to add. I also want to make sure that I have a widespread price range for my guests-- Some of my items are high ticket- but I just figure that these would be group items.
What do you think? How big are your registries and what did you figure in to help you decide on the size?

Re: Registry ??s
I didn't go by any set of rules. FH and I just went to the stores and put stuff that we knew we would use and wanted and left it at that.

Re: Registry ??s
It depends on how many people you invite. I invited 90 and there are about 125 things on my registry, from every price range.
You don't look greedy for having a big registry! Believe me, I've gotten some engagement gifts from things NOT on my registry and, while the thought was nice, the gift... was not. A registry is a way to get what you want. And make sure to register for more items than the number of people invited, or the last few people to buy you stuff will get stuck buying your lint brushes and mattress pads, and think, 'eh forget it, I'll just buy her that orange fake-fur tea cozy I saw last week. How cute!'

I guess it depends on what you need. Mine isn't that big because we have a lot already since we've been living together for almost 2 years.

FH and I just registered at BBB and we put all of the things that we liked on it...of course we will not get it all, but we did not follow any rules...like how many registries and how many items...we really just had fun with it

I hear you- we were in an apt together for a year and in our house 2 years by the time we get married- so I didnt think that I'd have a lot- but I have a lot of things that need upgrading since they're a few years old- and some stuff that we bought when we were on a tight budget that even if I don't open for a while-- would be nice to have!
That and BBB has that discount for anything that's not bought from your registry- right? So i figure more is better in the long run!
BUT- I dont want people to look at it and think 'My My, doesnt the bride thinks she's going to get a lot'
you know?

i was thinking this the other day (as i am switching my fortunoff reg to BBB) that i dont want to look like a brat or something because i put appliances and pots that are expensive. I know that i put a lot of different price ranged stuff on ours, but im affraid people are going to comment to each other about the higher end stuff (even though we are not reg for China)
But FH and I will really need all this stuff we have never lived together or on our own

hmm.. i put a lot of 'expensive' stuff on mine.. well there about 25 items on my register.. and we just did one store..
your registry should be your ideal wish list.. what you and your FH needs and wants.. and as always, registry is just there for people who inquire, no one is obligated to get you anything from it.. heck they are not obligated to get you anything at all.. but it's just a guide.. so put what you want.. people will always assume something about you anyway..

They can think what they want. It's only a wish list so they know what to get you. I don't know about BBB, but Macy's has the Star Rewards program, plus a % off the things that aren't purchased.

You don't want to seem greedy.......I must seem like a greedy biotch!!! I have 3 registries...all ranging in gift from $2.99 - $499. Each registry has an average of 30 gifts. We looked at the registries as our 'Ultimate Wish List'. If we get the stuff.........YIPPEE!!! If not...oh well!!!

Well some of the items on our lists aren't 'needs' but we look at the registry as a wish list! I totally agree that I dont want people thinking I'm a brat!!

hm... our BBB registry has about 100 items on it (but that's including ONE LINE EACH for like utensils and stuff) I was told to put a lot of under $20 stuff on there so I tried to!
And our C&B reg has about 50 items on it- though I am going to complete it this weekend so it may have a few more in the end.
Do you think we have too many? I tried so hard to include a range of prices and even harder to register even for the stupid little things to make sure that I get what I want. For our eparty we didnt register and we got some WEIRD stuff-- lol

We do live together but when we moved in we were saving money for the house and living expenses so bought all bottom of the line stuff. So on some things we're really going to upgrade and throw out the old.
Do you think that people will think that 'why is she registered for so much if they live together?'
oh boy- I hope that's not what they think!! What else am I going to register for? I dont want to get a bunch of stuff that I dont want at the shower! But we renovated our whole house and have no need for home improvement stuff-- our HM is paid for so we can't register for that... and my shower is going to be on the large side so i dont know what to do!

Re: Registry ??s
FH and I will basically be starting from scratch when we finally move in together...most of what we have now is either borrowed from our parents or was bought cheaply while we were students.
We registered at Macys and BBB, some of the fancier stuff is at Macys but not all, and there are over 100 items on each (we're expecting ~200-250 guests), and still haven't put bath stuff... most of it is necessary with only a handful of 'wish' items.
I was just saying to FH earlier that I hope we get most of the things from our registries so that we don't have to buy them...that's the biggest 'wish' item actually!

Re: Registry ??s
FH and have not registered yet. I know places like BBB have a list of items for every room in the house (even garage) to help you create your registry. Obviously you won't want everything on the list but its useful as a guide. I think as long as you make sure to spread out the prices over a nice range, there should be something on the registry that everyone is able to purchase.

Re: Registry ??s
I have two pages of stuff on one and one page on another. I stopped adding stuff and FIL's told me to add more and to find some more high ticket prices....his family wants to get us pricier stuff for my shower I guess. I thought that things that were 150.00-250.00 were enough! lol

Re: Registry ??s
I wouldn't worry about what people think - it's your wedding, of course you're going to register for stuff!! As long as you have a good range, I don't think you'll have to worry about looking greedy!
