Registy for the engagement party

Ok When we first got engaged, everybody asked when are you going to register .....So I'm inviting a lot of people from my office(well Everyone that can make it) besides friends and family.....
My Mom then was reading on a wedding website that it is tacky to do that for the engagement party.

So is it Tacky or not????

I say no, however if you dont register you will get more$$$$$

I got very few gifts and walked away with mucho dinero ....so IDK many people did ask my mom who were coming to the party if I was registered....

we made a small registry for our eparty...we put things like picture frames, cake server, toasting flutes, vases, etc...

and then we only told people who asked about it that we had one.

Tacky or not I like to give people the option to get a gift instead of cash...some people feel more comfy getting a gift and I know all of my friends wanted to get gifts so we registered.

we registered in spite of the fact that i also read it was tacky bc people kept asking us to. i'd say we got about half gifts and half money. my friend opted NOT to register, and while she did get more $ from the party, she is also the proud owner of 7 wedding frames and 3 wedding planning binders.

Personally I didnt and wouldnt register b.c. you're going to get a lot of stuff, then you need to store it, and you wont get as much from your shower. I wanted money b.c. we are paying for a house and wedding on our own and that's what will start us out the most. I dont mean to sound greedy, but neither one of us have the means for storage right now.

We registered for our engagement party because our famiy and friends kept asking where we had registered. We actually got more money and some stuff off the registry.

I think you're not supposed to include the registry card with the invitation for an eparty, but if people ask where you're registered of course you'd tell them.

IMHO I think its tacky, but thats just me. My sis friend got married last year and in her e-party invites she had three registry slips enclosed and her wedding was only like 7 months away.

Im not registering for mine and im writing no gifts on my invites. I think eparties have become bigger these days and it makes people feel awkward like how much should they give, etc so I just eliminated the guesswork
