Rehearsal and Dinner????

Rehearsal and Dinner????

Ok, here's the question....we just got the date from the church as to when the rehearsal is. Now, for the dinner....who pays? FH says his parents want to pay (which is fine) but should I research places and get prices then show them to FMIL or should I let her do it herself? I rather not, only because I want it to be in a place I would like. Not saying she would pick a place I wouldn't like but I'm a lil confused. Then my mother says she wants to pay for it. What do you think? How are you all doing it? TIA

Re: Rehearsal and Dinner????

The groom's family is technically supposed to pay for the rehearsal dinner.

my fi and i looked at places, and we looked at places with his parents. his parents picked one, booked it and are paying for it. the grooms family is traditionally the one who pays for it.

My FIL's are paying for our rehearsal dinner as well. They live in FL so I will probably pick the place and do most of the planning. I already have a few ideas that I went over with them and they seem okay with everything I mentioned.

I think it depends on your FILs. Mine are paying for it, but Brad and I are planning it. Although it was FMIL who suggested we do it in NYC and get transportation for all the guests. Which we are going to do. But she left the resteraunt up to us (they live in Boston). But she was great because she researched those party buses to transport everyone from the church in Manhasset into the city for dinner.

We are having it at my sisters house, but FIL's are paying for the caterer.

I would ask them if they want to plan it and have them discuss who will pay for it. If it's not somehting you really want to get involved with it, then try not to

Re: Rehearsal and Dinner????

My in laws paid. They live in PA so I picked the place with my DH and then they came to visit and we showed it to them and got their 'okay' on it. But, they are so easy going they would have 'okay'd' anything. If they lived in NY, I would have suggestesd to my MIL to go together. I would say it depends on the type of people they are and how you get along. I know my MIL would never have gone without me b/c she would be excited to do it with me.
