Rehearsal Dinner

We are having a problem with deciding who should be invited to the rehearsal dinner because my FILs think it should only be the grooms men and the bridesmaids and that is it. I on the other hand have a different idea. I feel it should be the bridal party, officiants, singer, readers, grandparents, gift bearers, and ushers that aren't grooms men. Anyone have any suggestions on it?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner

You can honestly do anything you like but I was told that you invite anyone that has a 'role/job' in your wedding
so we are inviting the entire bridal party, readers, people who bring up the gifts (catholic mass) and family members.
We also invited people with guest if they are engaged, living together or married.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner

I've also heard you are supposed to invite out of town guests. That's just what I heard. I say do whatever you want.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner

Yes, it is considered a nice practice to include anyone who has come in from OOT to be there.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner

My father said the same thing- but then again but dad knows nothing about modern weddings.

We are not inviting OOT guests- they all have enough people here, that they would mostly want to see if they are in town for the weekend- with the exception of OOT family.

I really feel like an RD today- is about having your close friends and family with you- in a more intimate setting- because the next night is more crazy. You get to say your thank yous and spend time with those most important to you- when you may not get a chance to the next night.
