Who MUST you invite to a rehearsal dinner? FH and I have to pay for this, so I really would be happy with just my parents, the bridal party and my grandma. His family really doesn’t care about the wedding…like REALLY doesn’t care (didn’t acknowledge our engagement; didn’t rsvp or attend engagement party etc). So do we invite them? And his sister doesn’t invite us to anything she does…so do we have to invite her?
I know I should be the better person and do the “right” thing…but I really don’t care at this point…and just want to do what is absolutely necessary.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner
You all know I'm in the same boat. My aunt, uncle and grandma won't acknowledge our engagement b/c fh is black
What I am going to do is invite them to EVERYTHING!! I never want to hear that they would have come but i didn't include them (which is crap anyway).
You can only control yourself and if you can put your head down on your pillow at night and sleep spundly than you're doing ok...I bet that they can't say the same thing....

09er crashing. I personally think if FH's family has not even acknowledged your engagement, then don't invite them. The RD is for people who have a role in the ceremony and who are important to the bride and groom and since they obviously don't meet either of those criteria they're out! Are you inviting them to the actual wedding?

i would invite them just for the hell of it. if they don't come then even better. but at least you can say that you at least extended the invitation.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner
my brother got married in 07... and i had MAJOR issues with his fiance / wife. she even said some awful things about me to her LIWers before i even knew what this site was. i wanted nothing to do with their wedding... but i was still invited to ev everything. what that did was put it on me. i chose not to go, so it made me look like the lesser person.
i think you should invite everyone, and when they dont show up... it's on them

Do you regret not going? How do you two get along now? (sorry if I'm being nosy)

I say invite them and let them see just how happy you and your FH are. Sometimes the best revenge is letitng people see how you live. Plus they can never say you didn't try.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner
you r suppose to have bride & grooms parents & the bridal party. i have been to a few & everyone kinda invites who they want to invite.
since FMIL is paying for our rehearsal dinner we will only be having the bridal party & our parents & FH's grandmother (i don't have any more grandparents). the only other extras will be my brother & SIL since there kids r flower girls & ring boy.

i would be the bigger person and invite them anyway. if they respond no then its on them..they can never come back and say you were a biatch and didnt invite them.
I completely agree with Jackie
I know it bothers you because it would bother me too but I would want to be the bigger person in a situation like this. Make them look like @sses for not showing up.
