rehearsal dinner

I think a rehersal dinner is supposed to be the wedding party, parents, and any additional people who are involved (like readers, etc.). And, out-of-town guests are generally included as a courtesy for them to be included since they may have nothing else to do (although with NYC so close, they'll probably have plenty to do elsewhere...it's still a courtesy).
