hey! we're getting married on a sat...i want the rehearsal dinner on thurs this way we can have fri to just relax & take it easy before the chaos of sat starts...my fh's brother isnt coming into town until fri morning, so he wants the dinner on fri instead so his brother can be there (also a groomsman)...i REALLY dont want it on fri....its going to be late nite & i dont want to look like a bad of crap on my wedding day....should i compromise & just leave it alone & have the dinner on fri so he can have his brother there? (mind you, hes the ex-fiance of one of my bridesmaids & doesnt get along with his family right now)...or should i fight him on this to get the dinner on thurs? thanks!

Re: rehearsal dinner dilemma...
it is your wedding. do what you want!! I don't think it is a big deal if you have it on the thurs and he doesnt attend.
why cant he just arrive on thursday night?
Well whatever the reason, i think you should stick to thurs also!!
good luck sweetie!

We're having our rehearsal fri for a sat wedding, but we are having the dinner at 5pm, so it's not a late night. Can you do a morning rehearsal, and then then do a reheasal lunch, or do an afternoon rehearsal and an early dinner?

From what you say, I think you should give this one to your FH. It wont be a crazy, stressful thing as you might imagine. Its dinner and drinks with your closest friends and family, what better way to unwind the night before your wedding?
I think we should limit the number of times we play the 'its my day Im doing what I want', especially when its at someone elses expense this definitely seems like a time to not play that card.
A majority of brides have it the night before and are fine the next day. It would actually probably be HARD to relax the night before anyway! :)

I agree. You should do it on the Friday. The rehearsal dinner is kind of like a little celebration for the wedding party in a way. Whatever the reason is that the brother can't make it in on Thursday, he should be included. It doesn't have to be a late night. Try to schedule a 6 PM dinner. My rehearsal dinner was very low key and I wasn't at all tired. It was like the kick-off to the wedding weekend. You FH will be so happy to have his brother there, and therefore you'll be happy that he's happy. Everything will work out. Remember to relax and enjoy every moment of everything and you won't drain yourself.

I agree. Just make sure it doesn't go too late....try to do it as early as possible. The wedding is about the two of you...and if this will make him happy, without making you totally miserable - it's a good compromise.

can you change it and do it in the afternoon so it won't be a late night? You don't want to upset FH!!!

Re: rehearsal dinner dilemma...
I'm having my rehearsal on Thursday before a Sunday wedding. There is ONE member of the BP that cannot confirm when he will arrive in NY. But he also refuses to give FH an address to send an invite to. (something about avoiding a process server and a divorce). All my other OOT BP members will be in NY (including FG, since she doesn't have school on Thursday or Friday).
FH wanted this GM at the rehearsal, but came around to my way of thinking.
