Rehearsal Dinner Dilemma
So I know that for rehearsal dinner the bride & groom normally would invite their immediate families, bridal party & OOT guests.Since I am not from NY and a lot of my fiance's friends from college don't live in NY, about 80% of our guest list will be coming from OOT with the exception of my fiance's family.
If I invite all of my OOT guests to the rehearsal dinner that's like having a reception before the reception. We really can't afford to have a rehearsal dinner for over 80 people and that just doesn't make sense to me.
What would you do? Should I not invite the OOT guests to rehearsal dinner & just gift them with a nice welcome bag when they come to the hotel? I'm so lost.

In your case, I would stick with your immediate families and bridal party. There's gotta be a cutoff point.

ITA.
Just something to think about--we will probably have to schedule our rehearsal dinner several days before the wedding. It might not be convenient for you (it probably isn't for us either, but we might not have a choice
), but if it works, it may be a good way to ensure that not inviting OOT guests is a non-issue.

We aren't inviting OOT guests either. I actually didn't even know you were supposed to lol. Our immediate family, bridal party and church readers already come up to like 35 people as it is.

Rehearsal Dinner Dilemma
I am in the same EXACT situation! FH and I decided to stick with the immediate families (including aunts and uncles), bridal party and church readers. We are going to invite the OOT guests to join us that evening for drinks at the hotel bar.

We are in the same situation. We aren't even having a bridal party so we don't really need the rehearsal but we did want to welcome all of the out of towners. We are expecting about 80 people (almost half the size of our wedding) the night before. It will be expensive but it adds on a whole extra day and gives us time with people who traveled in. We also want to thank them for all their expenses by hosting a dinner. We decided it as a good place to spend our money and have cut out some other things like video, limos, favors....things that don't really affect our guests and weren't that important to us. We are sticking to more casual food and just beer/wine also.

we thought of doing pizza also!! since we have all these people who aren't from NY- what better (cheaper) way to welcome them!!!
