I've always gotten invitations to a rehearsal dinner. Now, my FIL's are paying for the dinner and when I asked FMIL if she wanted help with invitations she told me that she's never heard of sending someone an invite for a rehearsal dinner, it should be word of mouth.
Is that normal? Is it bad if I send out invitations anyway, with them listed as the hosts'? I need to give the restaurant a final headcount.....
What would you do?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Help....
I've never gotten and invitation to a Rehearsal Dinner either.. but I dont think it's a bad thing if you give them out, its actually a nice idea. Plus its more helpful to you so you can keep track of the head count like you mentioned.
I wont be sending invites for my Rehearsal Dinner, but its just going to be my BP... I got to cut my expneses somewhere, HM in Tahiti ate it all up.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Help....
Either way I think it will be fine. My RD will be right after the Ceremony Rehearsal so I think I'll just do the word of mouth and let everyone know we'll be going out afterwards.

Do BP's spouses/dates come to to the rehearsal as well?

YES: Although to keep the costs down, some brides opt to only invite the BP.

I know that they come to the dinner, I meant to the actual rehearsal.... A lot of our BP is from out of town, so I didn't know if they stay in the hotel while we 'rehearse' or if they joined us.
This goes back to my invite issue...

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Help....
My brother got married in March and my mom did not send out invitations for the RD. It was all word of mouth. i am not sure what my FMIL will do.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Help....
I've only gotten 1 or two invitations to a rehearsal dinner. Personally, I'm not doing them. I think word of mouth is fine. I just think it's a waste of money in my situation and I hate to spend money on something people will only throw out.

I have always received an invite to Rehearsal dinner. I think its a nice touch, and will be the easiest way to know who is coming and if they are bringing their significant other.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Help....
Im going the Cheapy route... No dates & No invites - all word of mouth right after the church rehearsal.
Im having it in a restaurant in the city, where me and my FH had our first date and I cant afford to pay for all those puerto ricans - we love to drink!!
