I am working in RD invitations now, and FH and I wanted to acknowledge his parents for hosting it. I did a few searches on invitations and a lot of them say 'hosted by' etc. His parents are divorced so i'm not really sure how to word it? His mom still as the same last name as his dad but I dont want to word it in a way that looks like they are still married. Everyone coming obv knows they arent, but I dont want them to look at the invite and be like why did she word it like that??? lollll. Any suggestions?? Can i just write their first names since everyone knows them or is that poor etiquette??

Re: Rehearsal Dinner - 'hosted by'?
i think since its the rehearsal dinner & everyone there will know FH parents you should be fine with using just their first names. sometimes you have to do what is best for yourself & those involved & not worry about proper etiquette.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner - 'hosted by'?
I think if you put: Mr. & Mrs. John Smith Parents of the Groom people will assume they are still married...
Maybe you can do: Mr. John Smith Father of the Groom and Ms. Susan Smith Mother of the Groom
I don't think anyone will be offended. I mean, they WERE married at some point and they are still both his parents!!!

Originally i was going to word it like 'Jane & John Smith' no mr and mrs, but we both thought that still looked funny. Theres not a lot of room for this, it has to fit on one line.
what about 'Hosted by Jane Smith & John Smith'? Or just first names?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner - 'hosted by'?
Be more informal. Just use first names!

Re: Rehearsal Dinner - 'hosted by'?
True...just first names would work if 100% of the guests will know who they are... Hosted by John & Sue
Or you can just put 'Hosted by Parents of the Groom'

You could put 'Hosted by: Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Jane Smith.'

I like this idea too. You dont think they'd be insulted that their names arent on it?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner - 'hosted by'?
On my regular invitations I just separated the names. ...'Son of John Doe and Jane Doe'. It might look weird but people will totally understand.
