Danielle and I were thinking about our rehearsal dinner last night over dinner with my parents, and we were discussing ideas on where to have it and what to have to eat. We originally planned to have it at Rana's in Merrick. It is an italian restaurant. We would of had a sit down dinner, with appetizer, 3 entree choices, dessert, coffee, tea, soda, beer and wine for $21.50 a person. Then we thought about having dinner at her parents house and have it catered and then last night Danielle came up with the idea of having dessert and coffee at my parents house or Danielle's parents house.
We will get all types of cakes, cookies, paies, fruit platters, flavored coffee's, and teas....and give out all of our gifts that we have to give out. It would be a nice night with just adults, no kids.
What do you think of that idea? Scott

Sounds like fun! And hopefully not too much work.

I don't think it will be much work, and I also think it will be so much less expensive to do.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Idea
I think that's fine. It will probably be more relaxed and a better time than just sitting for dinner. We decided to skip the restaurant and do it at home, too. Initially we were going to do dinner at a local Italian place for $34pp, then we wanted to save $$ and were going to do a brunch the weekend before for $20pp and now we've decided to have a pizza party at our house. We figured that our friends and our parents would probably have a better time being able to relax and mingle than being stuck at a table. Good luck with your planning!

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Idea
I think it's a lovely idea but what time is the Rehearsal? If it's around the dinner hour, people will probably want a bit more then desserts.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Idea
No rehearsal. We are getting married at the HTH and we are having it right before the ceremony.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Idea
I like that idea. That is kinda what my sister did except they also had a hero. But you are doing it right before the ceremony, as in the same day as the wedding? I don't think that is a good idea. The day of will be hectic. Do it the night before.

Re: Rehearsal Dinner Idea
no...We are doing the dessert a week or two before the wedding, and the ceremony rehearsal right before the ceremony. I have been in wedding parties where that has been done before, and it actually works out ok.

I think its a cute idea but I also like the having a pizza or hero as well. - still wont be to expensive!! and usually the girls in the bp are trying to watch what we eat right before the wedding
