REHEARSAL DINNER IDEAS--ASTORIA/LONG ISLAND CITY

Okay ladies,

I am in need of some help!

FH and I have a huge bridal party and we are anticipating about 40 people for the rehearsal dinner.

It looks like FH and I will also be footing the bill, so we need some ideas of a fairly reasonable place in Astoria/Long Island City that will host a party this size and offer some type of buffet deal of sorts.

Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations?

Thanks a bunch!!

cavo, stamatis, mezzo, ammos, or mythos in flushing.

my friend jennie had it at mythos in the basement and we had a blast with dancing, etc.

we didn't have a RD ...

I want to stick to Astoria since the church is here, but I've heard great things about Mythos.

Honestly, I'm happy getting the food catered to our house and just having everyone there but I don't think we will all fit!

well we had ours at waterfront crabhouse, mil knew the owner so i think he worked with her on the price but otherwise not sure how good of a price it is

have you thought about porto bello, they have a back room that can fit 40ppl, the food is good plus i know their prices are great and will be less than most other places

i would also check mezzo mezzo, not sure how much it is though

i'll see what else i can think of.

Oh...I had no idea Portobello had a separate room! I will definitely call them!

I called Mezzo Mezzo and they told me that they could give me a cheap menu for like $25 pp so that's not TOO bad.

I don't know--I just feel like it's going to be SO expensive with so many people. An extra $1000 is a lot of money!!

Penny, check out Aegean Cove that just opened across the street from Central. I've been there twice in the past month, once for a Christening and then on Saturday for FMIL 50th birthday. They have a nice room upstairs, and the food is really good. I know for a Saturday night it was $45/person, so if you do it on a week night they should be able to work on the price for you

yeah you know where theres tables in the back where most ppl eat, you'll see that theres double glass doors but has curtains on the other side so you cant see inside. They have parties there, i know somebody had a bridal shower there, and ive seen other parties there when ive eaten in the regular eating area. If you have the menu at home by any chance, you'll see in the back they have catering menu. They have a few menu options you can choose from and they are all in the lower $20's from what i remember. The price shouldn't be bad.

That prize for mezzo mezzo isnt that bad. First see if you can get it for less but if not, that might be a good place to do it. Maybe try to get them to work with you a bit.

Okay Portobello told me $29 per person, but I'm going to stop in and see if they can work with me on the price. Especially since they can only give me the room for 2 hours.

FH grandfather bought me a dress this summer in Greece. So I put the outfit together and gave it to my MOH, and she's going to have it there for me to change into

Okay, in LIC there's this big mom&pop Italian Restaurant called Cassino, it's on 47th Road and Vernon Blvd. It's like old school Italian food your grandma would make (well if she was Italian). They have a big room in the back and it's very inexpensive! We go there all the time and Dh had my brithday party there..not sure if they do a buffet, but worth a shot.

I went to a baby shower at Punta Dura on 34th Avenue and 42nd Street , they had a private room in the back and the food, service were excellent.
And the office I used to work for had their holiday parties at Mezzo Mezzo, also good
