Is your church in Forest Hills? Tell me which one and I'll give you suggestions nearby.

i think around 35 people. we're getting married at the big catholic church on Ascan Ave/Queens Blvd, so we're looking for somewhere close by that's not too expensive.

I absolutely LOVE that church...Everytime FH and I drive by there I comment on how big and beautiful it looks...We're getting married at the church FH grew up two blocks away from, his mother sings in the church choir, taught CCD. If it wasn't for that i would've definitely checked it out, its also right by my house so it wouldve been easy.
I love the restaurants cabana and mardi gras over there, but not sure if you can do a RD there
theres an argentian steak house right on queens blvd about 2-3 blocks from the church. Not sure if you are interested in that though

I second Portofinos. Also Cabana is a fun place but much smaller. The Family Restaurant has been another of our favorites since I was a kid (Italian, on queens blvd) and they have a slightly separated area for a big party.

There is a place called Family Restaurant about a block away with Valet parking. The food is Italian. It is very good. Portofino is right across from the church. I block down from the church on Ascan is Q, a thai bistro and also Nick's Brick Oven Pizza but Nick's only takes cash.

Not sure what your budget is but not too far from Forest Hills (in Corona) is Parkside. Amazing food - its also across the street from the Lemon Ice King of Corona for a fun dessert!

The Family Restaurant is good & they have a separate back room they close off for private parties. There are a bunch of other great italian places in the area...Portofino's, La Terraza & another place that's really good right near the post office in that area.

Santa Fe is good..Pasta Lovers is not that far away but I went there on Saturday and I was not that fond of the food! I know there's a steak house on Metropolitan right off of Ascan that's suppose to be pretty good!!

I actually just called there and they only do large parties in the afternoons.

Mardi Gras has a room upstairs that they rent for parties...good food, but it's Cajun--so it might be hard to please everyone. Family Restaurant is a great place with really good food.
