I know you are looking for the Massapequa area, but is Bellmore too far?
I had my engagement dinner at Cafe Symposio in Bellmore. The food and service were awesome. The price was right (about $26 pp or $37 pp with alcohol). Ask for Gus.

You can always try Dick and dora's the food is pretty good and the price is reasonable!

There is a place called Sergio's on Merrick Road in Massapequa across from the corner galley that I recently ate at and for 16 bucks you got appetizer, salad or soup, entree coffe and dessert and the food as well as service were really great.
THe place is kinda small and the decor is kinda tacky but if a complete dinner is that much you never know what they would charge, good luck!!

Villa Maria's on Broadway on Massapequa is wonderful!! They have 2 rooms, so Im sure one of the rooms can be for a private party. I dont know what their prices are for parties like that but otherwise their prices are great!!

You can hold parties at Butera's on Merrick Rd. in the Southgate shopping ctr. across from the high school. The food is great there but you won't have a private room. With enough people you can have the restaurant to yourselves.

Check out Hemmingways in Wantagh on Wantagh Ave- my friend got married @ St. Rose & had her rehersal there & it was great.

I have heard Wantagh Inn does a good job. I know someone who had their rd at Paddys Loft as well. Also Katy Daly's.

The Nook on Sunrse Highway in Wantagh was also a good place. I was just tthere for a RD, and it was really good.

We have been to parties at the Wantagh Inn in Wantagh, Sergios in Massapequa, Veranda II in North Massapequa and Hemingways in Wantagh. All were great and would be perfect for RDs. My favorite though is Sergios, the decor is a little cheesy but its old world italian food and not expensive. We go at least once a week.

This is more of a specific type of place so it may not work for you, but my family and my FH family are Irish so we are doing it at Katie Dalys, which is right in the area. It is an Irish restauraunt with a Pub-y feel to it, some live Irish music even if you want it. just a thought. where are you getting married??

we are haaving our engagment party at domenicos resaurant in levittown off hempstead turnpike. the room, food and service and excellent. the meals are priced at 35 pp but we added beer and wine. very reasonable for a great place
