Rehearsal Dinner - Near or Far? (POLL)

so we're getting married at the hall and they said we could arrange to practice there prior or the day of.

the hall is in St. James and we live in N. Massapequa (35-40minutes away)

my question is...if we do a rehearsal there in st. james....would you choose a restaurant close to the hall or close to home?
if we have beer and wine perhaps its better to be closer to home?
the BP all live withing 15 minutes of N. Massapequa

i would do the rehearsal dinner close to everyone house, its much more convenient for everyone esp if youll be drinking

I would say closer to everyone's house, that way the largest part of driving is already done with and when it is late in the evening the people only have to drive a short distance. Plus, I assume that you and your BP are more familiar with places to eat nearby, so that is an added plus.

if everyone is from the same area then theres no reason you can't do it around your home

if there are out of town guests staying at a hotel near the RH i would say to make it closer to that so its more convenient for them.

I agree. I'd do it closer to home. That way people don't have to worry about driving too far at the end of the night after a few drinks.

At first I was thinking near the hall. But, since everyone lives close I think it would be better if it is closer to where everyone lives. That way it isn't a far drive home.

i would do closer to home, this way you don't have to worry about anyone driving far distances afterwards

Everyone I have ever been (including my own) was near the Rehearsal. People are already driving to the rehearsal and then to make then drive to a place near your house......the wont all be coming from the same place so you are asking them to drive a lot.

We're looking at something local and convenient for everyone. Too much travelling too close together. I'd rather spend that extra time with my friends/family.

i would def do dinner closer to home. it'll be much easier for everyone to get home afterward.

I was actually wondering the same thing. My church is in Mastic Beach and most of the BP live in Nassau...Levittown/wantagh area. I just wasnt sure if I should have them drive all the way out here to practice for 1/2 hr and then head right back.

I would do it close to the hall you dont know how hungry everyone will be.

IMO - I would do it closer to the RH. Since people are already driving out there for the rehearsal, I would pick somewhere close to there, this afterwards people can just go home if they want.

ITA! You don't want everyone driving home for 40mins after they've been drinking. Doing it closer to home is safer and easier for everyone.

Id say closer to home! At the end of the night your guests will really appreciate not having to drive to far, especially if they were drinking!

IMO, people should not be driving ANYWHERE or any distance after they've been drinking.

So while generally I'd say closer to the RH since everyone will be there, I guess since people unfortunately drink & drive anyway, it would be better to do it closer to everyones' homes.
