Rehearsal dinner poll please everyone vote

Original post by Bellez95

The Rehearsal dinner is coming up very very quickly. My FMIL is paying and she has informed me that she will be inviting those people she feels is important in her life. She has called it her day and told me I am making a big deal because Im not getting my way. MY FH agrees with his mother.
I would like to have this poll and show it to him to see how wrong he is.

I feel if we invite one with a date we invite them all with a date. She feels since she does not know my friends that she feels they should not be invited with their fiances/boyfriends
Thanks ladies I will be showing my FH this post

I voted for none but I don't really mean none - I think it should be spouses/fiances only.

I wholeheartedly disagree with this. My FH and I were no less of a couple before we were engaged. There were the same levels of support, commitment and shared lives pre-engagement as there are now. Marriage is not for everyone and this philosophy undermines the institution of Love and committment.
(Ex: My BM has been with her boyfriend for 5 years...does that mean he shouldn't be invited?.....No way!)

I agree, my MOH is in a serious relationship but not engaged. They have been together for a long time and also live together, not to mention im closer to him than others wives/husbands/fiance's that would be invited...were not talking about a bp member bringing someone they met like 2 weeks prior but some are in very long relationships and are not engaged

I agree that the fiance line is probably not the right one to draw (many people are in serious relationships without a ring) but I'm struggling with drawing the line at relationships period. We have so many single guests and would really like to draw the line at people in relationships period. (Invite those in a relationship and invite their SO by name, or invite those not in relationships as singles). I don't want to hijack this thread so I made my own about this issue. I do think that whatever line is drawn needs to be drawn evenly regardless of who FMIL likes.

I think it should be all or nothing. It is yours and FHs day/event whether or not she is paying and hosting. If she really wants to make it her party and be a good host, then invite everyone. Wasnt it only like 7 extra people?? I would offer to pay for them and see what she says.

IMO its just rude to invite some w/ dates and some without whether or not she knows them. You and FH know them and without you two, there would be no party.

If I wasnt invited to something like this with w/ FH and others SOs were I would be a little like 'oh- i guess i dont rate up with the rest of them'
