Rehearsal Dinner - Question

How far in advance is to far in advance to have a rehearsal dinner?

We are getting married on November 8. I do not want to have the dinner the week of b/c things are going to be nuts, so I was thinking either Oct. 23 or Oct. 30. Both of which are Thursdays. I would love to have it on a Friday, but I do not want to do it on Halloween and the Friday b/4 that (Oct. 24) my family has a Sweet 16.

would you consider doing it on saturday or sunday? you could have it be lunch or dinner on saturday or brunch/lunch on sunday.

the only issue with doing it so far in advance is that the people you'd like to have at the RD that are OOTers might not be in town for the RD. If you don't mind that, then you can really do it whenever you'd like.

The only reason i do not want to do it on Halloween is b/c i feel bad for the ring bearer and flower girl and a few cousins that I am inviting that they will not be able to go Trick or Treating... plus, i know that people have parties to go to, especially since it is on a friday this year

I am lucky b/c i do not have any out of towners that i would want at the rehearsal dinner. FH and I are lucky that everyone lives in NY/NJ so everyone is here. We may have people come from Italy and Greece, but they are coming the week of the wedding, so it would be hectic to have my rehearsal that week. FH and I said we would just go out with the OOCountry-ers b/c they are family that neither one of us have seen in a while!

Thurs, Oct 30th is completely fine to do the RD. Many people do it a week or more before.

its funny but i went to a RD last halloween. It was perfectly fine. Their wedding was the friday right after halloween and had the RD the wednesday before the wedding. We had an amazing time.

oh good point about the kids and it being on a friday this year.

You can do the RD even the weekend before your wedding, such as the saturday before. Or do it on a thursday such as the 30th

We are going to do it on a thursday. I went to a few restaurants already & they don't really want to hold seating for 30-40 on a Friday night.
We opted for the thursday because of this.
