rehearsal dinner questions

1. Anyone know of a good place for a rehearsal dinner close to the Holiday Inn Express in Stonybrook on 347?

2. Is it true that you invite all of the out of town guests too? I thought the rehearsal dinner was just for the wedding party... BTW--there's no real rehearsal involved... :-)

Thanks!

Inviting the out-of-town guests is optional but if you don`t, then some other kind of event is often planned for them, ie: a casual dinner or get-together hosted by an aunt or close family friend.

The thought behind it is that these people have traveled all the way for your wedding and may not know the area - it`s a way of welcoming them.

We had so many out of towners, and many were Fi`s family that knew the area and relatives still living in town. We would have had about 125+ at a dinner if all out of towners had been invited and it would have been odd to invite an out of town cousin, but not her sister - especially if she was staying at the sister`s house!

So what we did is just invited the out of town friends that were staying in the hotels - basically friends of mine and hubby`s and family friends/relatives on my side. Even so, we had about 75 people there!

I had my rehersal dinner at Cafe Stefano's in Selden. It's pretty close to Stoney Brook. It's a little Italian restaurant, very nice and very affordable.

We looked at John Harvard's by the mall. They have a back room. And when my mother's friend had a retirement party there they made a special printed out menu just for her party.
I think they were pretty reasonable too.
You could also look at the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook or some places in Port Jeff.
