Rehearsal Dinner REQUIRED?

Rehearsal Dinner REQUIRED?

((I posted this question another thread but figured I'd start a seperate one for it))

Is it absolutely REQUIRED to have a rehearsal dinner? We are getting married at the reception location and only have the bestman & matron of honor in our wedding party.

THANKS

Re: Rehearsal Dinner REQUIRED?

We are skipping the rehearsal dinner. We are also getting married at the reception hall and figured we could go through a dry run just before the wedding (f necessary). Our entire bridal party has been in weddings before so they all know what to do. In leiu of the rehearsal dinner we are throwing a small lunch for our bridal party and immediate family the day after the wedding.

We are not really 'rehearsing'. We are having a 'rehearsal dinner' the Thursday before. I will go over the basics. When everybody walks, etc., but it's more about a little meet and greet for everybody. Just the very immediate people./ If you are walking or reading, you are there.

I'm getting married at the hall as well and they will do a quick run through with us...they assured me...this is what they do...weddings...and they will take care of everything...

but I am having a 'rehearsal' dinner 2 nights before to relax and have a good time...and so that everyone can meet the person they are walking down with...

It's not really necessary but I think a way to say thank you to your bridal party, parents, close friends involved in your wedding planning etc. I haven't decided where I am going to have mine yet but my cousin had a barbeque in her paren't backyard and it was both fun and cost effective.

We are not having one. Our bridal party is 2 flower girls, my sister and his brother are witnesses, adn my father is walking me. We reahearsed w/ our reverand, the Watermill does a quick rehearsal before the ceremony. My FILs offered to take us, my father, stepmother, sister grandmother out to dinner 2 nights before since they have never met.

We are not having a dinner per say, what we are doing is the week before the BP and anyone in the wedding is going to meet at the church at about 12pm and we are going to go over the details. After that we are either going back to the house for finger food with a little grilling on the patio and some home made mixed drinks with music, that is when we will give the BP their gifts and say thanks. I don't think it has to be a big to do.

Happy planning all

Re: Rehearsal Dinner REQUIRED?

You are not required to host a meal prior to the wedding. We have a very large bridal party so a full meal would costs us a lot. Scott and I were not going to be able to afford a RD on top of paying for 99.9% of our wedding so we considered just having cake and coffee at our home after the reheresal.
But my sister told me a few weeks ago, knowing how badly I wanted to have a RD, that she and my brother are giving us our RD as a wedding gift. I was soooo touched that I cried.
