Rehearsal Dinner - Who to Invite?

Rehearsal Dinner - Who to Invite?

My fiance and I are inviting a lot of people from out of town to our wedding (due to distance, most of the out-of-towners will need to fly). We have already decided that our rehearsal dinner is open to more than just family and wedding party, but had a hard time figuring out which out-of-towners would get invited to the rehearsal dinner.

To those of you who have a large out-of-town guest list (we have approx. 100), did you invite all of your out-of-town guests to your rehearsal dinner? If not, how did you decide which of them to invite?

we are only inviting the oot guests from Ireland to the RD...if we did everyone we would be at 100 as well.

were you ever invited to rehearsal dinners for anyone whom you're not inviting to your own dinner? i want to reciprocate so that if someone invited me to theirs, they're invited to ours.

i tend to feel that anyone who has to fly in and stay at a hotel is putting forth a lot of money (and most likely taking a day off from work since our wedding is on a sunday evening). i just want them to know that we truly appreciate them making the trip to be at our wedding.

I am curious on the answers you receive and will be stalking this thread. I too have a Sunday twilight ceremony/reception and tons of OOT guests. My first thought is that we are having a 'welcome party' rather than RH bc we can't rehearse @ my venue the day before (they have a wedding going on most likely).

I did mention this to FH and we realize it likely will be a very large dinner, and we will be footing the bill.

No I was never invited to any of their rehearsal dinners...however...we are having a brunch the day after the wedding and all the oot guests are staying and therefore will have the brunch...thinking about it..thats how we are thanking them for coming such a long way.

Come to think of it...We went to a wedding out of state actually and were not invited to the rd because it would have been too many people...and the brides parents had a brunch at their house the day after the wedding for everyone.

We did invite all of our out of towners because they'll be flying to NY from all over the US and the world, and we didn't want to leave them stranded. We're hoping some of them can't make it though .

we have a very large OOT guestlist too. Our thoughts were we had to either invite everyone or no one. I don't think you can pick and choose because that might lead to some people getting upset that they weren't invited. We decided to only do BP and family at the RD and not all of our OOT guests, since we aren't made of $

Alternatively, my sister married a canadian, the wedding was in NY, so they invited every single out of town guest to their RD. Since it was her husbands family, his family paid for the whole thing.

Our rehearsal is on Thursday and a lot of guests are coming in on Friday. We obviously are not inviting them to the RD.... we are only inviting people who are involved in the wedding to keep it simple!

We decided that we would invite our families, the wedding party, and *many* of our OOT guests. We're at over 100 people!!!
