Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?

Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?

Are your FIL's paying for the rehearsal dinner? Did they offer? Mine have not said a word and when FH asked if they were interested in helping us with the wedding, FFIL said he would lend us $. Do you think we can come right out and ask them, wait for them to offer, or assume no? FH and I are basically spent when it comes to the wedding! I'm nervous we won't have a host for our RD! What do you think we should do?

Our FFIL is paying for the RD. Although, that is the only contribution that he is paying as we are paying for everything else. He offered to pay for it so we didn't have to ask.I would see what FH feels comfortable doing and if he feels comfortable asking then he can do so. Traditionally, I think the groom's family pays but nowadays anything goes....

My fil's are paying for half the wedding and the rehearsal dinner. They said it the day we got engaged.

I love them. They were so generous. I truly feel like their daughter, not daughter in law.

My FMIL says that she's paying but she said she's only doing pizza, bowling, and water and the members of the wedding party can't bring a date unless they're married It's the ONE thing she offerred to pay for and she wants to be sooo cheap about it!!

FMIL is taking care of the RD.

FFIL is taking care of the RD. However, we did have to ask....not that he wouldn't do it, but more of, it probably wouldn't have occurred to him to offer. he was very cool about it and we appreciate the help!

My DH's parents paid. They asked us from the very beginning what they could do to help and we said the RD. Maybe you could ask them to host it in their home and that would be a hint that they need to do something without making it uncomfortable? Good LUck.

my FIL's are paying for it, but after FH told them that the in laws usually pay for it....they were ok with it. I said, if they don't want to, we will pay for it, but they said they would. Although they don't drink, and we are going to the brickhouse brewery, and they don't want to pay for other people to drink..so we might just pick up the bar tab....

My in laws paid for it- FIL and MIL for the restaurant/food and BIL for the $800.00 bar bill

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?

My FIL's are paying for it, but they came right out and told us that after about a month of us being engaged. If I were you I would assume that you guys are paying for it and then if FFIL gives you the money, that is great! FH & I did that with our reception hall. My parent's said that they were going to help us out but never told us how much. So FH & I put all the money aside because my parents waited until Monday to tell me that they are paying for the whole reception (they said that they did not want us to spend the money on other things we don't really need for the wedding just because we had the extra money). But now it is so nice that we put aside thousands of dollars for the wedding, and now we can put that right into our savings. So sometimes it is better to assume that you are paying for it and if they offer to pay for something, that money you saved goes right into your savings for your future!

I REFUSE to ask FH's parents for a single penny. They haven't offered to help with ANYTHING and I KNOW that they won't... so we will be paying for our RD. And that is perfectly fine by me!

ETA: We are also paying for the entire wedding (my parents are both deceased), so our RD is going to be a pretty small, intimate affair. We will either contain it strictly to his parents and the bridal party if we do it in a restaurant - or we will expand it and have it at home. Either way, we are going to keep it LOW budget!
