Are your FIL's paying for the rehearsal dinner? Did they offer? Mine have not said a word and when FH asked if they were interested in helping us with the wedding, FFIL said he would lend us $. Do you think we can come right out and ask them, wait for them to offer, or assume no? FH and I are basically spent when it comes to the wedding! I'm nervous we won't have a host for our RD! What do you think we should do?

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?
Thats the funny thing we both are paying for the wedding completely but since tom's parents are passed ( father died when he was 8, mother died when he was 12/13) his sister who is 10 years older then him took said she will give us a RD but we aren't getting married in a church and we don't have a rehersal! So no point to give it.
Told her if she would like to throw one of her popular bbq's (yes its cold so its inside and the bbq is outside...food to be served indoors) at her house for out of towners on her side or we just do nothing.

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?
Originally we were splitting the RD with my ILs, but recently they got a tax refund and told us they would be paying for the entire thing. That saves us a bunch of money.

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?
my future FFIL offered, and the best part about it...we were discussing it the other day at our food tasting, and they asked who should be invited, and in that number THEY included OOT guests. I was so happy to hear that cause i have family coming in that i cant not invite (and has invited me to all of theirs). So we're all on the same page and i am super psyched about that!!!!

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?
No one offered to help us (but it's early). So, I asked FH to ask his mom to host it. We knew they could not afford to pay for dinner and I wasn't sure who to invite and who was supposed to be paid for. i.e. does FMIL pay for my BP and their sig. others? Too confusing. So, I asked them to host a cookout for just my BP, sig, others, and my OOT family. HTH

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?
Your fh should bring it up and just ask them. I am sure they will be hapy to help out and host the rh dinner. I would just bring it up. My fil are taking care of all of that. So i have one less thing to worry about.

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?
fmil offered and said it was her responsibility...she is also paying for flowers (because its traditionally the grooms sides responsibility???? didn't know that but im not arguing) AND she's paying for her guests...im sooooo thankful.
i was assuming we would host it ourselves. You could always have it at someones house and maybe have friends and family bring dishes????
did the fil's offer to pay for anything else??? i would assume fh should talk to them more if ure concerned.

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?
We are paying, but My future in-laws are paying for some of the wedding
...........i think if they didn't say anything, you can try to bring the topic up carefully adn feel them out.
Maybe they just didn't really give it much thought yet.

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?
I'm also having a similar issue. My FILS are paying and my FMIL isa bit of a control freak so we're probably going to be forced to have it where the FMIL wants to have it. I'm very grateful that they're paying and I'm happy that she wants to be involved in the planning - I just wish she was the type of person who would ask us what we thought rather than just doing what she wants.

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?
FMIL and FFIL are paying for RD, dj, limo and flowers. They offered all of it. We did not have to ask. Thank goodness. They really are very helpful and I could not ask for more from them.
I would ask only if FH thinks it is okay. Afterall, they are his parents and he knows them best on how their reaction would be or if he even feels comfortable with asking them.
Good luck.

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?
Hunny, I know it's hard paying for everything yourself (We're on the same boat) But sometimes if people aren't offering, it's because they don't want to do it, or don't have it.....If they're not talking about it just let it go and do it yourself!!! It totally stinks but that's just the way things are sometimes.... XOXOXO Kitty

We did not ask, they did not offer.
One of my bridesmaids actually hosted it at her home for us and it was wonderful!!

Re: Rehearsal dinner- who's paying?
That's a good idea except they live in Westchester, so their house wouldn't work :( Thanks for all of the advice, though, And also glad to hear that some of you are in the same situation (not glad, per se, but not alone!)

That's a good idea, but since they live in Westchester, we'd have to have it at my parents anyway of we did that...they have not offered anything whatsoever to help us pay for the wedding :( FH was under the impression that they would, but all his dad said was that we could borrow $ and pay him back after the wedding. It's just one more thing to worry about!
