Rehearsal Lunch?

Rehearsal Lunch?

So, because I’m a slacker I still haven’t booked a rehearsal dinner.
We went WAY overbudget on the wedding so now we are planning on a very cost-effective rehearsal party.
I am getting married on a Sunday in the afternoon. Pretty much all of the places I wanted to do the RD are already booked since the RD would be a Saturday night. SO do you think it would be acceptable to host a rehearsal lunch on Saturday afternoon?
All of the people that would attend the rehearsal are within a half hour of the location (no one from out of town) and more than half of them are staying at the location of the wedding anyway. Do you think that it would be rude to expect people to give up their Saturday afternoon (instead of their Saturday night) for this AND their Sunday afternoon for the wedding??
Also, when do you think we should schedule the actual rehearsal – before or after the lunch??
And do you think a cocktail lunch is totally tacky instead of a full sit down or a buffet?
Just trying to weigh all of our options – especially cause it would be the only way we could do it at our #1 choice location..

Re: Rehearsal Lunch?

The church where I am getting married kept telling me to wait to schedule my rehearsal dinner and by the time I finally did, all the Friday night spots were taken . . ugh. Anyways, now we have to have a rehearsal lunch and everyone seems cool with it. (except for the gm since apparently only 2 out of 6 can attend - meanwhile we made it this day because the originally said they woudl be able to)

So lunch sounds good to me.

Re: Rehearsal Lunch?

I think a rehersal lunch is fine. If you know the people tend to be morning people, I would do the rehersal first and then lunch, that way everyone has their afternoon/evening to do whatever they want.

Cocktails are totally up to you, I don't think they are necessary, but I also don't think it would be tacky.
