My Fiance' and I were just talking about the rehersal dinner and I'm very confused and we never had on at my sister's wedding. What is the point of one? Where is it held? Who is invited? Who pays for it? When is it held? I did a search for it but I am not getting any info and the knot.com is down. Thanks in advance and sorry if I sound so ignorant on the subject.

Re: Rehersal Dinner...
It can be a very causual dinner at a local restaurant with people in the bridal party after the church rehersal. Grooms parents pay for it.

sure, traditionally the grooms parent's are supposed to pay, but that's not always the case of course. i know for myself that my fh's parents are giving us $$$ toward the reception and we are paying for the rest of the wedding costs (including the rehearsal dinner). who pays for it will be up to who offers to.
some people invite just bridal party members and immediate family, while others extend the invite to oot guests as well. its all up to you! its usually held right after your ceromony rehearsal and you can have it whereever you please, a home or restaurant.
edited to say: i guess the point would be to thank everyone for participating in your wedding. a lot of people give out the bridal party gifts at dinner. that's why i am gonna have one and i will be giving out their gifts and maybe give a little thank you speech. good luck ~lacey
