Who usually pays for the rehersal dinner? I think it is the groom's parents...but FH's fam. has been a little weird about the whole wedding thing...they told FH they would probably 'take care' of the honeymoon, but have yet to elaborate...and they haven't said anything else about $$ and the wedding- now mind you, FH hasn't asked, but we've been engaged for two years, and they haven't said anything to the two of us while we are together about finances. I guess what I'm asking is, should we just assume we are footing the bill, or is it customary to bring up this topic with FILs if they have yet to do so?

Re: Rehersal Dinner question
I'm not quite sure..I have a few brothers, and my parents paid for the engagement parties, and rehearsal dinner, as well as other areas. My FH's parents have yet to say one stinking word, other than 'you should just go to the justice of the peace and save your $'...seriously, I just don't think they know the etiquette? Proper etiquette states that the grooms parents usually pay for the RD...sorry for the vague answer, but I'll be watching this post as I am in the same boat as you!

Re: Rehersal Dinner question
Traditionally the groom's parents, but nowadays I guess anybody can pay. We are paying for almost everything on our own, so it all depends your situation.

Re: Rehersal Dinner question
Traditionally it's the parents of the groom that do it, but nowadays it's pretty much anything goes.

Re: Rehersal Dinner question
thanks girls...that is what i figured...FH is the oldest and first married...I honestly think they don't know that it is customary for them to pay for RD- i'm sure they would if they knew...but i always feel so weird talking to ppl about $$...we'll probably just suck it up and pay for it ourselves

Re: Rehersal Dinner question
Usually it is tradition for the groom's family to pay but in our situation my FH's parents are deceased so my family is paying for it. Of what I have seen latley is that the Bride and Groom pays for it as a way of saying thank you, if their parents are paying.
