The perfect time for our wedding is the Monday of Memorial day. My family is in the restaurant business and over half of the wedding invites are traveling. A memorial day weekend would be perfect for this feast, but our RC priest says no to weddings on a holiday. Is that right? Can he do that? Even if I find another priest, I'm afraid he will still say no. Now I might have to go to another church!! ugh

Re: Rejected by church for Memorial day wedding
Not all churches have the same policy- I would imagine anyway. I would check other churches nearby. If they all say no, you could always look into an officiant.

Oh no! I wonder why he said no. I would call the office and ask if they do weddings that Monday and see if you get a different answer. I feel like that is a very popular weekend for weddings so I don't think you'll get turned down again if you go to a different church.

I know the Episcopalian church will not marry THAT particular Sunday (Labor day weekend) because it is a religious holiday for the church. I don't know how the Catholic church or any others work it.

Re: Rejected by church for Memorial day wedding
we are getting married on the fourth of july ... im not catholic but i am christian and the pastor of my church is going to marry us on the holiday anyway ... i think it really does depend on the person and the church.
its good to see a fellow holiday bride ... people get so mad when they hear a wedding on a holiday but you know what! its great for Out of town guest and it sure does make going away for your anniversary easy!!!

Re: Rejected by church for Memorial day wedding
go to another church, my church wouldnt marry us bc they were saving our date for baptisms...and we were booking over a year in advance which meant the kids being baptized werent even conceived yet.....the priest was being a jerk so we just went to another church and they booked us asap.
