Anyone ever been at wedding where butterflies were released? How did it turn out? That is what I was thinking of doing since my church does not allow rose petals...

Re: Releasing butterflies???
I have... it looks nice if they all fly but sometimes the butterflies are stunned or something and don't go anywhere.
also, many guests are not aware of what they are and squish them thinking the packages containing birdseed or something!! so if you decided on them make sure guests know what is in the little envelopes!
I thought I was the only person up at this hour!!

I was thinking about doing it but decided not to. My neighbor did a butterfly release and it was soooo beautiful. Their pictures came out amazing. The only thing I iwll recommend is you don't do the individual release packets do a mass realese instead.

Re: Releasing butterflies???
We are releasing butterflies at our ceremony...but we are only having our bridal party release them. Everyone else will get rice or birdseed or something else. I think it will be really special and look great in the pics this way. Can't wait...

Re: Releasing butterflies???
I have.. It was last Memorial weekend.. the weather was kind of like todays weather. When it was time to release them, they didn't fly out. It was too cold. I felt so bad.. most of them dropped to the ground. FH and I stayed after everyone left picking them up and placed them on the grass.
I was really excited when I heard she was having them.. I am sure they look beautiful when released in nice weather.
