Remarriage question

Remarriage question

I know that when a woman gets remarried the second marriage is supposed to be toned down a bit (I read that she's not supposed to walk down the aisle, but walk in from the side and that there should only be VERY close friends and family) even if it's the groom's first marriage.

Anyone know the ettiquette when it's the brides first wedding, but the groom's second? Anything that we should/should not do? Does it even matter?

Silly other question - Does anyone know if guests that were at FH's first marriage may be inclined to 'skimp' on the wedding presents for his second marriage? I just don't want to be shocked when we get gifts for $15 or less from his side because people may feel they already gave him a wedding present 9 years before when he got married the first time (granted, I feel that people probably skimped on that wedding b/c no one believed it would work out anyway).

Re: Remarriage question

I married a man that had been married before. I think you can do anything you want to. We had a big wedding. We didn't get married in a church so I don't know what the etiquette is for that but I think you should do whatever you want to do. As far as the gifts, everyone was very generous from both sides.

This is my first wedding and his second. He also has two kids from his prior marriage. We are not doing anything different than any other wedding, except that his kids are part of the wedding. I think it's a personal preference. I say celebrate! Do what you want and make it yours and his day.

As for the gifts, it's not something I thought about nor do I care. It's all about the marriage and celebrating. The presence of friends and family is what is most important.

Best of luck!

some older people may be inclined not to give a gift because they already have - it matters on the person -

Re: Remarriage question

This is my second marriage and my FH's first. While I never thought I would have a big wedding again, my FH wanted the whole nine yards so here I am again planning another wedding. While I have cut down on the number of people invited (my first wedding there were almost 300 people invited) we are doing everything else the same, including the church (I got an annulment). I think it's a personal decision between the couple getting married to do whatever they feel most comfortable with.
