Mark and I went for a walk after having dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was in such shock; I really wasn't expecting it. After saying yes, we walked home arm in arm in a wonderfully foggy daze before telling all of our family and friends...
FH proposed in Freeport on the Nauticle Mile at Hudson and McCoys where we first met. I was completely surprised!! He had tears in his eyes! I told him to get off the floor bc he was going to get his pants wet. I had no clue what he was doing! Then I realized and the rest is history!!

still very fresh in my mind. it happened last wedneday. We went to Aruba for a vacation. We decided to eat on the beach at sunset. We had the most delicious food. After desert my fh asks how long have we been together.. i said almost five years (it was 4 or so days before our 5th anniversary). he said well then i have something for you. He said will you marry me or something like that...can't remember i was so shocked it was actually happening.

FH proposed to me at Belmont State Park, by the lake. I was crying so hard, my tears were falling into his nose and I couldn't hear a word he was saying. He said he had to ask me Will you marry me 3 times before I finally answered.

Jim & I had brunch @ Paddy McGees (4th of July weekend) where we first hung out together 4yrs ago. It was really sweet. I was crying & freaking out and he said lets get married. I am soo excited I didn't even notice the other two tables watching us.

It was our first night at the Bahamas. We were taking a walk on the beach after dinner when he found a place to sit. That is when he told me to close my eyes b/c he had a surprise for me. When I opened my eyes he was kneeling in the sand w/ the ring box open. It was one of the happiest moments of my life!

we were playing Scrabble on a Tuesday night and he spelt out 'marry me' .. he got down on one knee and the rest is history!

We went for a walk along the beach and boardwalk in the town where my grandma lives in upstate NY- I had gone to the beach a lot with my family when I was growing up. As we were walking alone, he got down on his knee and proposed. I just remember being in such shock and excitement all at once, crying and smiling. There was another couple walking who yelled congratulations to us, then we left and went back to my grandma's and went out to celebrate with my whole family for a double celebration- it was Mother's Day and we got engaged! I'm so glad he proposed there because my grandma was the first in the family to see us afterwards and she was so excited to be a part of it!

It was Christmas time and every year we go and see the tree. We got a limo (this is when I thought something was fishy). We went to dinner and the wait was so long that we winded up having a couple of drinks at the bar and eating dinner close to midnight. At this point I thought forget it he would of done it already ( I was so wrong) He just couldn't hold it in anymore and that's when he announced 'I can't take it anymore this is killing me'. Before I knew he was on one knee and the whole restaurant was up and clapping. People were sending bottles of champange over. . it was crazy. THEN we went to see the tree

it was christmas eve and he had 'one more present,' it was a construction paper book complete with a sweet poem and pictures. The last line of the poem was 'This is when I asked you to be my. . . .' I looked up and he was on his knee holding the ring! It took me about ten minutes to actually say yes and to look at the ring! Then we ran out to tell his family, and drove over to tell my family.
Great thread - I was just thinking about how that was the happiest day of my life!
ETA: what made it MORE special was that i had no idea that he was even THINKING of marriage!

It was a week before my birthday, FH was taking me out to reenact our first date, and he brought over my birthday present. We were in my room, ,my hair was still wet, I was barefoot....I totally wasn't ready. So I opened the present, and saw it was a Tiffany box, so I thought it was jewelry until I opened it and he got down on one knee. I just burst into tears. It was really sweet.

Fh took me walking at Blydenburg park-our favorite place. He told me how much he loved me and that he wanted to be with me forever. I was bawling like an idiot.

FH took me to see Phantom of the Opera and after singing the words to 'All I ask of you' quitely in my ear, the curtains closed and lights went off for the intermission and when they came back on he was down on one knee.

We got engaged on the Nautical Mile too....we went to EB Elliot's for dinner and then took a walk afterwards....we walked down the dock next to the Riverside Cafe (I think thats the name) and that's where he proposed...it was so sweet because we could hear all the bands playing by the water...and I was singing along to 'Do wa diddee diddee dum diddee do' and I turned around and he was down on one knee asking me to marry him.....it was such a happy night.

It was our 5 year anniversary and we were going out to a fancy restaurant. Before we left he got a call from his father saying that he had to pick up a saw from his uncles house after dinner. Of course I was upset that we had to go on our anniversary, but I figured it wouldn't take too long. So after dinner we went to go get the 'saw' and while we were there FH asked me if I wanted to see the pond his aunt and uncle had just put in, so I said yes. We went outside and it was gorgeous...pond, waterfall, candles, of course I was completely oblivious. So we got to the top of the waterfall and I was looking down with my back to him and he commented about how he hoped we would have this someday and when I turned around he was down on one knee. I was so shocked he had to actually ask if I was going to give him my hand so he could put the ring on. Ahhhhh memories

We went back upstate to visit our college for a football game -FH used to play. FH was so set on going to one of the local area waterfalls, like so set on going and I seriously had no idea why. So I agreed and once we got into town that was the first place we went to. So we hiked down the hill and got up close and then he goes let me take a picture of you (he was standing up) then he says he needs to get the waterfall in, so he gets down to take the picture. Well he takes the picture and I'm like ohh take one with my camera and the next thing I know, he has the ring box and I'm screaming. It was absolutely amazing!!

My FH and I every year go and see the tree. So about 2 weeks before, we were trying to figure out what day we were going to go.(I work nights so my scheduling is a lil different) So I had to work the night before we wanted to go. So we went in, had dinner at the Sea Grill. While we are eating, a couple gets engaged outside on the ice. FH goes how nice is that. And of course I'm like yeah it is. So after we, eat we go see the tree and start walking which I though was back to Penn.( I dont know my way around the city lol) We ended up at Central park. We went to Central Park on our 1st date and wanted to take a carriage ride but never did. FH said how about that carriage ride now? We waited about an 1hr to get a ride. And of course the couple that got off the one we were going on had just gotten engaged. I was like you've got to be kidding me to myself. About halfway through the ride, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

we were coming home from our jeweler's house. i knew that FH had gotten 'a ring' and i knew he was making payments on it until it was paid off b/c he didn't want to have any kind of loan. so we would go every once and a while together and drive out east to his house (nice drive) and he would pay more money. I never got to see the ring! It was SOOOO hard to wait... but we went out on this particular day just like always and I thought he was making yet another payment but it turned out that he tricked me and each time he was paying double! So he actually picked up the ring on this day without me knowing it!!!! So I get in the car (not realizing that Richie GAVE him the ring!!!) and we were driving home and he asked if I was hungry so I said 'No' b/c I wasn't! So he said, well it's a beautiful day out-- what do you want to do? So he suggested we go to my church (we used to go there a lot when we were dating b/c they have a really pretty courtyard and we always knew we would be getting married there) so we went and walked around the courtyard and he hugged me-- but he was doing something behind my back with his hands and I remember thinking what the heck is he doing? (he was actually opening the box) and then he started telling me about how he was going to take care of me forever and on and on (really nice stuff) and it was so sweet but i was thinking why is he saying all of this now?? it's so random!!! and then he got down on one knee and i was like OOHH DUHH!!! lol and I started to cry and he asked and I said yes and when he showed me that ring I almost FELL OVER!!!!!!!!! It was absolutely stunning and shining in the sunlight-- so we went CRAZY and hugged and then we started running all over town telling EVERYONE-- who all went nuts!!!
