removing ugly marks on my face...

removing ugly marks on my face...

I have this horrible line over my lip, its probably from the BC pill and is very much like pregnancy mask. Anyhow it has been making me miserable. I was told I could remove it by laser but they suggested waiting until after my wedding. I was devastated.

Fast forward to this week. My neighbor did a free trial of a thing called The Nano Perfector for her pregnancy mask and with one treatment it got a lot lighter. So my mom took me on Mon for a free trial. 15 min and you could already see the difference. It got lighter over the next few days. Today I went for a full treatment and its so much lighter, and I only got home at 6:45pm. It should be even lighter by tomorrow. And it leaves no marks. It will look so much better in my pictures on Sat.

My mom did it also because its supposed to remove black circles and help your skin... well my mom has not been able to breath right in 3 1/2 years since she got the flu and ended up with a permanent sinus infection. One treatment and she can breath already.

I am a huge believer of this already. I can't get over it.

If anyone wants info on it, FM me. I have her brochure.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melasma

Melasma (also known as 'Chloasma faciei'[1]:854 or the mask of pregnancy[2] when present in pregnant women) is a tan or dark skin discoloration. Although it can affect anyone, melasma is particularly common in women, especially pregnant women and those who are taking oral or patch contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medications. It is also prevalent in men and women of Native American descent (on the forearms) and in men and women of German/Russian and Jewish descent (on the face).

The symptoms of melasma are dark, irregular patches commonly found on the upper cheek, nose, lips, upper lip, and forehead. These patches often develop gradually over time. Melasma does not cause any other symptoms beyond the cosmetic discoloration.

Melasma is thought to be the stimulation of melanocytes or pigment-producing cells by the female sex hormones estrogen and progesterone to produce more melanin pigments when the skin is exposed to sun. Women with a light brown skin type who are living in regions with intense sun exposure are particularly susceptible to developing this condition.
Genetic predisposition is also a major factor in determining whether someone will develop melasma.
The incidence of melasma also increases in patients with thyroid disease. It is thought that the overproduction of melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) brought on by stress can cause outbreaks of this condition. Other rare causes of melasma include allergic reaction to medications and cosmetics.
Melasma Suprarenale (Latin - of the adrenals) is a symptom of Addison's disease, particularly when caused by pressure or minor injury to the skin, as discovered by Dr. FJJ Schmidt of Rotterdam in 1859.

I have this too! It looks like a dark spot on your upper lip. Like you are a very ethnic person and did not wax...but there isn't any hair there. It gets darker in the summer because you are exposing your face to sunlight. It is very annoying but the cream treament for it is very expensive so I never did anything about it. My make-up artist did a really good job at covering it up for my trial so I am just hoping that it will be fine for hte wedding day.

I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to but there is a cream called Triluma that is about $100 (you can get the script for it at your derm's office plus i once had a coupon for $25 off) that you can use to lighten melasma. I used it and it was very effective...only thing is once you stop using it it eventually goes right back to what t used to look like. For your wedding it might be a great temporary fix

YES! Triluma is the cream I was talking about. I was going to get it but it takes 8 weeks for it show signs that it is working and I'm down to 4 weeks...lol. I may still call the derm for the prescription.

My mom has this, all over, do not get the laser, it went away and came back worse, use SPF 35 + daily and stay out of the sun , its what makes it much darker, and the lightening creams really helped it but its back again because of the sun ! HTH good luck...now Im scared cause I just started the BCP too eek
