renovations
Hi Brides,This is my first time here and I'm not sure how or why I didn't find you all sooner.
I am getting married in a venue by the water and my main thing was the view. I even emailed them before signing the contract that there will be no renovations/obstruction of views during my August wedding.
I just found out two weeks ago that they are undergoing a renovation which will cause there to be a wall up in the middle of the enterance/lobby area.
Originally I had paid a lot of fees for the ceremony, for use of a restaurant for my cocktail hour etc.
The cocktail hour was supposed to be across the lobby from the reception space but now with the wall up, guests have to be ushered into elevators on one side and walked down a corridor and up an escalator. This transition will take about 30 mins for all my guests about 250ppl.
I need advice on what to do?
I have asked for them to refund me monies but so far they are only offering half of the fees I have paid. I am paying for valet parking, ceremony fee, use of the restaurant space by the water, and outside caterer fee, etc. I feel like I was duped as I emailed them before signing the contract about any disruptions.
What should I ask for and what do you think I can do? I am so stressed out, They have offered to cover the wall with piping drape and up lighting and gobos of our names etc and will extend our cocktail hour to make up the time it will take all the guests to get from cocktail to reception.
Any suggestions or advice for this stressed out bride??

Fees total over 6000-8000. It is a very expensive location. I feel like I over payed since they are doing renovations in the lobby. The view will not be affected for my ceremony.
