I'm about to book my honeymoon to Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. Is it necessary to rent a car in either Maui or Kauai? Are we better off cabbing it for dinners outside the hotel? I'm torn.

i would get a rental car in maui and kauai. In Oahu is a city, like New york city you can walk to places or get a cab, Maui, where are you staying there? and in Kauai ? I really think you should get a rental in Kauai, there nothing around.. only if you are planning on staying at your hotel the whole time, then you don;t need one.

Def rent a car in Maui and Kauai. There are so many sites to see that are far from the resort areas. Depending on where you are staying in Maui you can walk to a lot of places for meals. HTH

yes, get a car in maui and kauai. i didn't go to oahu but from what i understand, it isn't necessary there. definately definately definately for the other two islands though. If you can, splurge and get a convertable.

Definitely get one in Maui and Kauai. You can get away without one in Oahu.
I found Alamo had the most reasonable prices.

You definately need a rental car in Kauai and Maui. Your TA should include these costs in your overall price

Definitely rent a car, a convertible if possible.
We had a great time driving around Hawaii with the wind blowing.

I agree with all of the above! Definitely bring some dramine (Is that the name) if you decide to go on the Road to Hana-- I was getting a lil queasy on the way back down...and my father got so bad that he had to pull over and let me drive!
ETA: Its definitely a must-do though!! Totally worth getting car sick..lol

Yes, we booked Maui and Kauai and we were told we would need a rental car. We even upgraded to a SUV type for one of the islands. I forgot which one though.
