Renters...if you could...would you buy your apartment?
our complex is being made into condos...and if everything goes well, we would like to buy...
why would you buy...why would you not?
buy: I'm used to it great view no moving ample parking new improvements being made
not to buy: being that I only thought we would be here short term...I dumped oil down the drain (garbage disposal) only one floor (wanted a duplex) but will only be here 2-3 years... we were looking for a condo closer to the beach so that when we bought a house we could keep the condo and rent it out...

No, but only because it's a co-op. If it were a condo, we would have jumped on it years ago.
I think you have a great deal there, but maybe you can research your area a bit more, if you haven't already. Find out: how often condos come on the market (for when you sell) and how much they go for, how much you can expect yours to appreciate in value, what's the supply and demand in your town.
Where I live, condos are on the market for literally a day before they're gobbled up, becuase of the location, location, location!
If the same goes for you, then go for it! (and the oil down the drain shouldn't be THAT bad, right! )

If I was in your place...YES!!! You can stay there for 2-3 years and then buy a home!! Your apt complex sounds so nice and the good out weighs the bad!!!

Erica - YES I would do it in a heartbeat. Hubby and I were going to buy a condo years ago so that we could live in for a few years while we saved for a house and then keep the condo as rental income. We never got to do it and we wish we had.

Absolutely. I love my apartment complex. Its brand new, all new appliances, clubhouse with fitness center and pool. Allows dogs and we have a garage too.
I wish they would make this a condo I'd jump on it in a second.

Erica: what is happening to your general neighborhood and do you think the price of the condo will increase in the 3 years to help you make the house that you want affordable?
If yes, then yes... If you like the space now, with only difference being that eventually you may want a house, then yes buy it.
But if you think that the neighborhood may decline in prices in 3 years, that may not be such a good idea to buy.

I'd buy. I love my tiny little Brooklyn space. Mostly I love my block, my brand new hard wood floors, the view, the noise, and that I wouldn't have to move
We're considering buying right in this neighborhood in the next couple of years...preferably on this block!

nope.
Its definitely a temporary place. Its cute, but its a small one bedroom apartment.
I want more space, a bigger kitchen and another bathroom before I buy!

I would definitely buy!
Or, I should say we would have bought, but now w/ Dh working in Manhattan its too far a commute and we will be looking to move closer.
It would have been nice to own though...I LOVE our apartment!!!!

No, I can't wait to get out of this place. I love the apartment itself, but I hate my neighbors and there wouldn't be enough room in here for us once we have kids.
