has anyone heard of or known anyone who has rented a vacation house for a small wedding? we think we want a backyard style wedding for no more than 40 people, but neither of us or family members have a decent yard. we really don't want anything fancy either.. thinking more of a semi casual catered event. think it can be done? has it been done?

My college friend did this and got a place in hudson valley. It worked out great for her too, bc she stayed there, as well as her family and some guests after the wedding. Your best bet is to look into home rental sites and contact the owners if weddings are permitted on their property. Its a strong possibility that they'll agree to do it if its small like yours, but will require your vendors be insured, but thats not a prob since most are anyway. Heres a link to check out http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/new-york/hudson-valley?utm_source=cj&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_content=5402939&utm_campaign=10859114

renting a vacation house for wedding? - Long Island Weddings
My sister's best friend rented a house on Cape Cod and had their wedding in the backyard. My sister said it was so low key and easy and she loved it!
