So, I've been talking to a few work friends about either renting or buying a new dress and then selling it. Basically, I am not planning on preserving my dress, and I don't really care if I keep it or not. I would LOVE to save $$ on my dress and use it towards my honeymoon! Does anyone know anything about either renting a dress, or buying a new one and then selling it?
Thanks so much!

Re: Renting/Selling wedding gowns???
I googled renting gowns out of curiousity and stumbled across this article. Sounds pretty cool actually! I definitely would've looked into it had I known it was an option!
i considered it. my friend knew a store in chinatown that offered package deals. you could even order BM dresses!!
i polled my BMs about the idea, but only a few were interested...and i was lazy about making the appointment...
so i never really found out anything else about it
but my friend did it and she thought it was great!

Thank you SO much for this article! I wonder if any places on LI do this? I will need to find out; I'm seriously considering this idea rather than spending over $1000 on a dress I will only wear 1x!

Re: Renting/Selling wedding gowns???
Ok well update-- I looked into it and its not going to happen.. read lots of bad experiences. Maybe I'll just try to get a sample gown or something from a store. Is Bridal Reflections going to be really pricey? I have an appt there in March.
You can get a very nice gown at davids bridal for cheap brand new...

my sister sold her dress on this website. she got a good price for it too.
bridal reflections has a variety of price ranges with the cheaper dresses being at their LI location(s).

If you are up for it, you could always do the running of the brides at Filene's Basement. I think they sell samples.

Re: Renting/Selling wedding gowns???
you should also check out preownedweddingdresses.com . They have lots of beautiful dresses worn once by brides or some have never been worn at all! Some people changed their mind or canceled the wedding and are selling the gowns for huge discounts. Just another option for you

Re: Renting/Selling wedding gowns???
two of my friends rented their gowns because they got it as part of a wedding package. a lot of asian wedding salons in flushing/chinatown do this. i booked with one but i'm not going to rent the bridal gown. i am going to rent the BM gowns & GMs tuxes instead. FM me if your interested.

Re: Renting/Selling wedding gowns???
No. I hear its better in the afternoon and the gowns are actually organized by size whereas they are just placed randomly on the racks in the morning. My sister said her co-worker bought a dress in the afternoon there and it wasn't crazy at all.
