Can the reply cards be postcards, or do they need to have their own little envelope? I'm trying to keep down the cost of the invitations, but I don't know if that's a tacky place to cut costs. Also, if postcards are ok, does anyone know if there's a certain size you have to use for the post office?
Thanks!

Re: Reply cards
Wouldn't you still have to buy the same postage though whether you were using a postcard or an envelope?
Maybe I'm wrong though, I don't know that I've ever sent a postcard.

Re: Reply cards
From usps.com:
To qualify for First-Class Mail card prices, a card must be:
• Rectangular • At least 3-1/2 inches high X 5 inches long X 0.007 inch thick • No more than 4-1/4 inches high X 6 inches long X 0.016 inch thick
Length is the longest dimension parallel to the address.
First-Class Mail® Postcards ($0.27 each) Maximum size: 6 inches long by 4-1/4 inches high First-Class Mail® Large Postcards ($0.42 each) More than: 6 inches long by 4-1/4 inches high
***Postage is going up in May, so those rates will change!***
As for the aspect of tackiness, I don't see anything wrong with saving money on invites. I'm actually considering the all-in-one invites where the reply card is a little tear-off postcard at the bottom. If I can find cute ones (I've seen a few, but haven't done extensive searching yet) then I'm going with that idea.

I think its a different idea - nothing wrong with it. If psot cards are .27 cents each - thats alot less then .42 cents LOL

That's a nice idea. The only thing you may have to be careful with is sometimes postcards get lost easily in the mail (ie: stuck inside magazines and catalogs). That is a huge way to save money, as postcard stamps are half the price of regular stamps.

Depending on the feel of your wedding/invitation I think it is a nice idea but a less formal one.

I am having a Black Tie - Formal wedding and am doing postcards as my rsvp's. I never thought of it until I saw it. They can be very elegant or simple as you like. It makes more sense to me. U just throw away the envelope anyways.
