Moorea

1. My favorite restaurant in Moorea is a place very few tourists know about. It ison a motu (islet) across from the old Club Med. The InterContinental & Les Tipaniers have transfers every 2-hours to the motu. The setting is unbelievable. Pure pristine beauty. It is an outdoor restaurant and only open for lunch. It is on the expensive side but the food is delicious and you can’t beat the setting. You definitely will need to bring your mask and snorkel as the snorkeling between the two motus is wonderful They are open everyday except Monday and I do advise phoning just to confirm 76 96 96 0r 56 55 37.
On weekends especially, you will need to make reservations. They do accept credit cards.
2. Another very good restaurant with a funky atmosphere is the Aito Restaurant. It is just past the Sheraton (towards the direction of Cook’s Bay). Built overwater, the restaurant has woven bamboo hats, paper maiche fish and plastic chili peppers hanging from the ceiling. Jean-Baptiste the owner will always have a scotch & coke in hand, while his charming wife Vanina is in the
kitchen preparing delicious fresh fish. I love their tuna carpaccio.
3. A great snack (inexpensive restaurant) in Papetoai is Snack Mahana. It is a white house on the lagoon side and they have tables set up in the back yard right next to the water. The mahi mahi pane is excellent. Other favorites are
the tuna carpaccio and garlic prawns. They’re open for lunch only Wed-Sat.
4. A very good restaurant on the west side of the island is Le Mayflower. Their lobster ravioli is really fantastic. While this restaurant is quite popular, I will
say its location on the side of the road is not the best.
5. Coco d’Isle is a great snack in Haapiti just past Le Petit Village on the lagoon side. If you want a filling sandwich on the run, order the grilled tuna or Mahi mahi. It is HUGE and delicious.
6. A very good and well known French is Te Honu Iti. Located along the water’s edge in Cook’s Bay, you will see sting rays swimming up to the light of the restaurant. The chef is award winning. But I tell you honestly, the staff is soooo French and sometimes they can have a real attitude. I have had many wonderful meals there but there are times I want to swat the waitress.
7. Le Sud is a nice restaurant in Maharepa. I love the open atmosphere. Also you can grab a pizza to go.
8. I don’t care where you do it but be sure to eat Poisson Cru while you are here. Every restaurant serves it. It is a traditional Tahitian dish and delicious. It is fresh raw fish (usually tuna) marinated in limejuice & salt and then
soaked in coconut milk.

Bora Bora

1. The best restaurant in Bora Bora is La Villa Mahana. However, it is a very small restaurant with only 5 tables, so it books up fast. Ask the concierge of your hotel you make a reservation for you.
2. Another excellent restaurant is TopDive. Great view on the lagoon and they pride themselves on their wine list.
3. Bloody Mary’s is an institution in Bora Bora. They have a sign out front with every celebrity who has ever eaten there. Their speciality is a variety of fresh fish prepared to your liking.
4. Fare Manuia is a favorite restaurant of the locals. Casual atmosphere and good food.
5. Another good local restaurant is Kaina Hut.
