Repost- First Fitting-- having some trouble visualizing

I had my first fitting on Saturday-- and while I was excited to have my dress on.. The dress was big- as I needed to order up sizes to accomodate my boobs, so they took it in- but just by pinning it- it stuck out all along the sides so it was really hard to visualize how the dress will actually fit me.. since it was hard to tell where I ended and the dress began.

Also, I found the dress to be very stiff- I mean, also when you try the sample on- it is has been handled a lot, so it has softened up- plus they pull it from behind with the clips-- so, you can a full frontal view of how it would look when fitted to you.

I was a little disappointed that I was not blown away by myself in the dress- I know I will need to wait til the next fitting to really see how it will look- but anyone else have an experience like this?

Randi, are you having your dress steam cleaned after your fittings? That might help it mold to your shape better, it might be a little softer.

This happened to me as well. not only did I have to order up for my boobs, but I've lost like 40 pounds since I ordered my gown. I put it on and it just dropped so low that my boobs hung out! And it's NOT strapless! It's so baggy and big on me that I cannot even imagine that it will ever look good. But I know that they can work their magic for me. I'm not all too worried, but I need instant gratification, and that sure as hell wasn't helping! Don't worry, it'll be perfect!

Yeah- I know the next fitting will be better- I am saving the second and final fittings for right before the wedding so I can get it as tight as possible- which is how it is supposed to fit.

I have the same thing. My dress had to be completely redone. I had the whold back and sides replaced so when I went for the fitting this weekend the seams were all loose and the zipper was off. I think the most frustrating is that the top will need to be reshaped (to big) and I can't picture it. But April 15th hopefully it will be back in 1 peice and I will be down 10pds.

You are NOT alone! I haven't gone for a fitting just yet but when I wenr to try it on because it was in I was BUMMED. It didn't look even close to what I imagined.

But, I just keep telling myself it will be better when it all fits correctly and then I'l blow myself away!

When I tried on my dress at the tailor who almost ruined it, I felt so sad inside and HATED my dress. But I took it FAR AWAY from her and to another woman and even the way she pinned it, it looks fabulous and I felt like a princess again! So long as you go to someone good who knows what they are doing, they will make it fit perfect on you, like it should!

I hear this way too often so just know it will be ok and I'll need to keep it in mind when I go.... I am jealous of all of you ---been trying to lose weight unsucessfully since Sept. WHen they ordered my dress they told me I would need to lose a little to have it fit but wouldn't go to the next size since that would be insanely big...so yikes, wish me luck...I keep trying...

It will all work out for everyone, right?!

It always works out in the end. I wouldn't panic. It looks messy when it's so loose on you. Just MAKE SURE YOU GO TO A GOOD TAILOR!!!

I do-- I have a senior fitter at Kleinfeld on my dress- so, I am sure it will be ok..

Just wanted to make sure other people experienced something like this- of course my mom still said it looked amazing and I looked so skinny in it- we are all our own worst critics.
