Repost from 08' need married girls

do you ladies think this plan sounds good??

Outline for the Night

Cocktail hour
Guest goes into reception meet table with salad
Place dinner order
Introductions
First Dance (slow song)
Right into dancing until dinner is being served
Best Man speech before we eat
Father/daughter Mother/Son dance while people eat (slow song)
Right back into dancing
Cake cutting
Song for mom and dad (slow song)
Garter and Bouquet toss
Dancing
Dessert
Go Home

I hope CH will agree with it. I know catering halls have thier own systems and they obviosly work well because they do them every night. I just want to have the most dancing possible

it sounds good to me! but I actually don't remember planning out the order of events for my wedding. I think the RH and the DJ work together to make sure everything happens in the right order. But maybe every RH is different. But your list seems to have everything in the same order in which things happened at my wedding, so I think it will work out fine! hth!

When do you eat?????

Just my concern that a lot of dancing is going on while people are eating dinner that they won't be able to focus on the special dances as they are eating.

I think you should sit and eat for 20 minutes while the majority of your guests have their food and after you are done eating and they are finishing up start the dances. That way they can focus on those special moments!!

PLUS, YOU NEED TO EAT

I can eat while michael dances with his mom. I hate when everybody stares at you for your special dance. Like when I dance with my dad I want people to be eating not watching me hold back my tears.

Im going to give this to my RH and talk it out with them and they will tell me how they do things. I dont want to be rushed and I dont wanna waste time I wanna enjoy every minute I hate when the maitre d is saying now we do this now we do that

If that is what you want to do then do it!!!! I loved when I sat down for 10 minutes during my reception and ate my first meal with my husband and watched people dance. It was our special moment to share a meal as husband and wife and see our selves surrounded by so many people who love us and it gave us a moment to re-group, re-focus and relax!!!!

Whatever you decide do what YOU WANT!!! It's YOUR DAY!!!

Sounds good to me and usually your RH will help with remembering that's why I dont' remember exactly what i did in order.

We tried to eat when everyone else was.
Got one bite of salad because someone came to talk with us.
Got two bites of dinner because someone came to talk with us, someone else wanted our picture.
Didn't get to eat any cake because at that moment the sun decided to come out and the photog wanted to take pictures outside.

Don't worry about the time schedule so much.
Let the DJ and the Maitre'D coordinate everything. People will dance when they want to.

JMO-

The order is fine just make sure that once you confirm it with your RH you provide the same info to the photographer, videographer and DJ/Band. This way everyone is on the same page and not confused with what is going on the day of. They all need to capture the events of the day so preparing them before when you hand in lists and make payments is best..

Also during the father/daughter mother/son dances its been done that he and his mom will watch you guys dance and then you and your dad will watch them dance.. IMO i think that the day of you will want to do that and not be eating.. its emotional and looks nice to see you guys watch them dance and vice versa by the dance floor versus you sitting and your dad sitting and eating.. i dont see that really happening..

people are going to be staring at you all day.. the best advice i got was when you get nervous or anything to just look at FH - and all those people magically become invisible..

hth!

Hate to tell you, but your guests are going to watch you dance with your dad. They are going to watch your husband dance with his mom. They are going to take pictures.
You are going to be the center of attention the whole day.

IMO, if a bride was sitting at the head table eating while her husband was dancing his special dance with his mom, I would think that to be weird. Like the bride didn't care..... Your guests are going to watch you eat. Alone.

When my husband danced with his mom, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. I stood at the edge of the dance floor watching, my best friend by my side. When I started to cry, my best friend hugged me, and my photog got a great shot of this. It was just an emotional moment.
When the dance was over, I walked out to the dance floor and put my arms around both my husband and mother in law. There is another great shot of the three of us hugging and crying together.

If you waant to move the dances with the parents what about doing them after your first dance? This si what I did. Nomatter when you dance people will stop what their doing to watch and take pics. So either after cake cutting or after first dance would eb my opinion.

At my wedding, since we did it right after there was only one other break in dancing, the cake and our dances with DD wich were done back to back. Your hall will do whatever you ask, but will suggest what works best

I think that is the order we did it in. I didn;t really care what order we did it in. The DJ/MD seemed to take care of everything. That made it much mroe relaxing

Re: Repost from 08' need married girls

i did not worry about that... your maitre'd and the band leader or DJ should be doing this for you--- they know how to time everything just right with the food, etc.

but if you're planning that, you might want to throw in a speech by your father (if he's doing... . etiquette dictates that the host - whomever that may be should say something--- doesn't have to be long, but they say something... and even if your parents arent' paying, it is very common for the father of the bride to say a few words. Also, dont' know if you're religious or not, but if you have a priest or other clergy there, they often say a blessing and prayer before the meal. Our priest did this for us.

honestly girl - u don't need to worry about ANY of this stuff! this is what being a bride is all about! the reception staff & EVERYONE ELSE will take care of this. don't stress over things u dont need too - be the bride/queen for a day and let the world cater to you! its the one & only day you get & it's the best feeling in the world! They guide you through EVERYTHING...all u need to do is enjoy it all!

100% agree, usually the way the RH plans out the timing you do get the most dancing, when you start changing it things got complicated, we did our parent dances right after cake cuting so people were eating dessert during the dances.

oh and I danced my azz off all night!
