Repost from BHB: Dress Dilemma-- please help if you can!

Hi Girls,
Since I know some of you girls are very resourceful, I thought I'd ask you for help.

I have always loved Maggie Sottero's 'Felicity' dress, and thought of it as 'THE dress', even though I never tried it on.

Yesterday I went to Macy's Bridal Salon, and showed them a picture of 'Felicity'. Although they did not have that exact dress, they had a Demetrios dress that was similar. The only thing I didn't like about that dress was the embroidery on it was a lot bigger than the embroidery on 'Felicity', and I'm more of a simple, subdued person. But, I loved the sleeves on the dress-- they weren't full cap sleeves, and they looked very elegant.

After Macy's, I went to Lilette's (wonderful salon) to try on 'Felicity'. I LOVED the dress itself... it was perfect, the embroidery was simple yet elegant. But I felt the sleeves were just too much-- they were full cap sleeves, and were made of mesh, which I felt made the dress look a little cheap.

So now I am faced with a dilemma-- buy the dress I love, which has the sleeves I don't like so much... or buy the dress I like a whole lot, which has the sleeves I really like.

I was hoping you resourceful girls could possibly know of other dresses that look similar to these-- maybe if I find another similar dress, I will like it even better than these two.

Attached is a picture of 'Felicity', and a link to the Demetrios dress (it is the 3rd dress from the left on the 3rd page).

Please let me know your opinion on the situation, and also let me know of other dresses that are similar.

Thanks so much, girls-- you guys are the best!

I like the MS better......im not sure i like the side on the D dress....

Is the price an issue? If not...go with the one you LOVE!

Heres what i think: first i think that the Felicity is BEAUTIFUL and the sleeves do not at all make the dress look cheap. As a matter of fact, i think they soften up the dress.
However, if you really are unhappy w/ the sleeves, first see if they will cut them down or something. If the dress comes 'as is' then maybe you should keep looking. If you keep shopping around and continually return back to the Felicity in your mind, then youll know that is the right dress

The sleeves are prob detachable, no? I tried similar dress, and they were. You need to get the dress you love. IMO, I like it as is, but I'm sure you can get w/o sleeves, or even have them make the sleeves 'thinner.'

It's is beautiful though.

A good seamstress can change the sleeves, if that's the only thing you don't care too much for.

Maggie sometimes makes dresses with detachable cap sleeves. Perhaps you can inquire about altering the sleeves a bit? I think you would be happier with the Maggie, personally, as the embroidery you felt was a little too much with the Demetrios gown. Good luck!
