REPOST from BHB... HELP! My friend was supposed to get married in 6 weeks at the Holbrook Country Club and the caterer disappeared!!
Sorry for the repost, I just wanted more people to see this!
My friend is (was) getting married in 6 weeks at the Holbrook Country Club. He just found out today that it's closed... no forwarding information available. The town of Islip (I think) owns it, and they are supposed to get back to him by Friday as to what options he has. If they don't have a solution for him, they have no place to have the wedding!
His fiancée just got a new job and is training out of state and doesn't know about this, he is flipping out trying to get it fixed before she comes home at the end of NEXT week. Can you imagine, coming home and finding out your hall doesn't exist anymore?
Anyway, what are some halls in that area that are inexpensive? Money is a big factor here, as they had just enough for HCC but now don't have the time to save anymore money for a more expensive hall! Does anyone know anyone that could help them out? Luckily, February isn't May or June in terms of popularity or price, but they are in a REAL bind here.

I know this isn't what you were looking for, but its worth a shot. Perhaps he can call up like 7 on your side or the other stations' programs for defending people. I think he'd probably get some hall to donate (maybe) or else offer solutions for him. It's worth a shot.

You read my mind! This might work - I thought I just saw a report about this same situation a few nights ago - maybe on Channel 7?? The couple's hall bailed and another came in and helped them out.

I know my hall Larkfield Manor was reasonable, also what about Majestic Gardens or Windows on the Lake, or the Beach Club on Lake Ronnkonkoma?

What!!! Thats crazy! I checked them our for my wedding actually but it was too small for my guestlist! Brentwoood Country Club is very similar as far as the packages, but was a little cheaper. It is a similar setting on a golf course. Same kind of thing but in Brentwood.

OMG!!! I saw him on the news---that is so horrible!!!
maybe they could check out some place that does a lot of weddings @ a time that might have something open--they are lucky it's a slow time for weddings being the winter--they might get lucky--perhaps crest hollow country club or woodbury country club??

A similar story happened to someone I know only the hall decided to do constuction on the ballroom during her date. She found out through someone on this site!!
The hall picked up the difference of where she ended up having her wedding.

cheap/cheaper halls...verdis, what used to be Imperial Manor, Coral House, Huntington Townhouse, Mediterranean Manor, etc.

Maybe he can call caterers and have them come IN to caterer it at Holbrook. I mean, since they contract out to caterers, someone has to be able to go there. I'm sure. My FH works for Channel 12 and he told me about your friend. I felt TERRIBLE for him! But I really do think that there will be a ton of caterers jumping at the chance to get a contract there. Not only that, but if NOTHING ELSE motivates a caterer to come through for your friend, then the good PR will. I wish them all the luck!

try stewart manor, riviera, maybe some ones that re on teh watyer that do more business in the summer so that there is more of a chance that there will be an available date.

That is so WRONG! I don't get it. I remember it happened to someone on here.I would so do the news things and you know what maybe a really great hall out there will see it and (even for a good publicity) Will offer their place to them. Check out coral house HTH Riviera and I think the Holiday inn in Plainview has a really good package.

I would bet there are a bunch of places that are still available - having gotten married in February myself, I know that any place taht wasn't booked (and I got engaged/planned only 5 months before my wedding) was just gagging for business!!
Try the Miller Place Inn also. I would also do Brentwood Country Club - but because they do such a good deal, it might be booked and it might be a little tricky seeing as it's a package also (vendors might not be available, etc.)

I saw it last night on news 12. I hope it all works out for him. I would do what everyone else says and call up other halls and explain your story to them. I am sure they know what is going on and will try to accommadate your friend if they can.... Scott

OMG. How much did this place put them out? I hope all these people can get reinbursed. Probably not if they can't find this person, but I hope they do.
I heard of Brentwood Country Club which is supposed to be along the lines of that. I think the prices of Huntington Townhouse are inexpensive and they are good.
