REPOST from BHB... HELP! My friend was supposed to get married in 6 weeks at the Holbrook Country Club and the caterer disappeared!!

Sorry for the repost, I just wanted more people to see this!
My friend is (was) getting married in 6 weeks at the Holbrook Country Club. He just found out today that it's closed... no forwarding information available. The town of Islip (I think) owns it, and they are supposed to get back to him by Friday as to what options he has. If they don't have a solution for him, they have no place to have the wedding!
His fiancée just got a new job and is training out of state and doesn't know about this, he is flipping out trying to get it fixed before she comes home at the end of NEXT week. Can you imagine, coming home and finding out your hall doesn't exist anymore?
Anyway, what are some halls in that area that are inexpensive? Money is a big factor here, as they had just enough for HCC but now don't have the time to save anymore money for a more expensive hall! Does anyone know anyone that could help them out? Luckily, February isn't May or June in terms of popularity or price, but they are in a REAL bind here.

Was he the one that got the news story on News 12? I didn't get to see the whole story but I saw the newsflash. I am very sorry to hear about that! Do we all want to do something on here to help? I don't know how much we can do but between us and LIW maybe they will help a little?

Meadow Club in Port jeff has good prices.
He might not need to look for an inexpensive place. With the wedding 6 weeks away, any hall that has the date open would not normally book it this close to the date and will be glad to book it at all and I'm sure they'll give him a good deal. it might help to explain the situation (but not seem desperate) and suggest to them that if they come through for him he will be singing their praises on LIW and other sites. The first step is just to call around to see who has the date available. I'm sure ANY hall would jump for joy to have the date booked, because otherwise it would be a dark night and they'd make No money! Best of luck!

I heard this on the news this AM. Thats Crazy! to your friend. some places that may be reasonable: Larkfield Manor Brentwood Country Club Millerplace Inn Meadow Club Windows On The Lake
Thats all i can think of right now. Please keep us posted. oooh..What about Port Jeff Country Club? Maybe they are worth a try.

Wow! I will let my friend know about Newsday and about all of your suggestions!!!
It looks like the Meadow Club is going to help them out--and do the party for them! He was going there after work to talk to them... so I don't know the details or if they really worked it out but I LOVE the Meadow Club (I was supposed to get married there). I really hope it works out!!
He told his fiancée over the phone and she didn't really panic, from what I understand, she just said, OK, let's make a plan... figure this all out! WOW I'd be a total wreck...
hopefully it will all come together.. Thank you ALL and he said to pass on their thanks to you!! What a whirlwind!!

Wow, thank goodness, his wife seems to be a calm person. I would have been a complete and total disaster if that had been me.

I had my wedding at the George Washington Manor- the prices are very reasonable and even though it was very nice I don't know if it's crazy-popular. So your friend might want to think about it. And the banquet managers are super nice.
