Repost From BHB- Help with Bridesmaid Issue

Ok here is the story. My FH tells me last night that he would like to ask one of his good girl friends (who is also a friend of mine) to be in the bridal party. Now I did think about putting her in, but since he did not mention it, I just thought that he did not want her in it. (Traditionally, he thought that it was the bride only who chooses who would be in it).

The problem is, we already ordered the bridesmaids dresses in late april. They still have not come in yet.

The question is, have any of you had any last minute additions to your bridal party? and if so did you order the gowns a bit later than the others? My wedding is in 3 months from now, late october.

(of course I am going to call the bridal salon today for info, but I thought I would get some advice from you girls first, or if you could share some of your experiences with me)

first, kudos to you for including her! a lot of brides might be catty about groom's female friends. so cheers to you!
if you are unable to get the exact same dress in time, you might be able to find the same style in a different color as a sample (or also a coordinating style) j crew and ann taylor are good places to look last minute. your friend may feel more comfortable standing on the groom's side to support FH anyway, so that would solve any issue of her looking different, if that is something you are about.

I am sure they can order it, but it won't be from the same dye lot (not that I think that matters- but the color may be slightly different).
They may also charge a rush fee, but I am sure its definitely do-able.
