Repost from BHB-- MOH Dress Help- PLEASE--(long)

Ok.. some of you may remember from other posts, one of my MOH's is pregnant and due 6 days before my wedding. We have been discussing what she should do regarding a dress.. She feels that she will go early, as her mom and sis did- so, when I say there is a slim chance you will even be at the wedding, she disagrees with me.

At first she was going not going to get a dress at all- and we did not even discuss what ramifications that had on her actually being in the wedding party..
Then she decided to get the BM dress and use it as her 'materninity evening dress' that she would wear to other events, etc. She would most likely wear the dress before the wedding- which did not bother me.

Today she tells me that she thought she would maybe use this black dress her sister had, then get a wrap in the same color of the BM dresses.. so she can still be in pics, etc. I don't necessarily think this will work- and I told her- I don't want to stress about her black being covered in pics, and wondering if my pics come out ok. I always planned to take a couple pics with her alone- after I fouind out she was prego.. But, I mean- when I posted about my BMs wearing the same color shoe- everyone was like they need to be the same.. so, black against ivory and sage green will def stand out.

Basically, the end result is that she wants me to make the decision and she will do whatever I want.. I personally feel that yes- I want her to look like a full on BM if she is at the wedding- this is not only for me- but for her too.. Part of the fun is to wear the dress and all the other stuff that comes with it. Also, I would like her to be in as many pics as possible..

On the other hand- I feel like I look like the bad guy if I say- yes, I want you to get the dress, then again she gave me a choice. But, if she was due any other time- she would be getting the dress anyway-- so, I don't know.

I have no idea what to do- I want her to have the dress, but I don't want to look like a bridezilla. I told her this exactly- and she just tells me to think about it-- I'll do whatever you want..

unless i am also a bridezilla (which is a distinct possibility), i don't think you're being unreasonable at all. i think the black will really stand out against the other colors, and i totally understand your concerns about the pics.

it doesn't sound like she would be mad at all if you asked her to get the dress, so i say ask her to get it. she will definitely need the maternity dress no matter what (after birth she will still look prego for a few weeks, just less so), so she might as well get it early and get some use out of it at other affairs...

I say you do what you want to do. It is your wedding and you shouldnt have to cater to everyone else all the time. Maybe Im sounding harsh, but its the truth.

I know in the back of your mind your saying 'I know she says she'll do whatever I say but at the same time I dont want her to get mad at me. ' I say go for yours. You want to go buy the dress tell her thats what you want. Even if she does get mad, turst me she'll get over it.

So, even though I am in the same position, my MOH is preggo and will be wearing her maternity dress -- in fairness, my dress choice leaves no room for a pregnant person. With the dresses you have picked in that precise color and material, there is really no way for anything else to match. Plus, Jenny Yoo specifically makes those as maternity dresses and first babies are always late. I think for $200 she ought just buy the dress.

It's actually more like 300- but I told her I would pay the difference to make it 255 for her-- which is what we thought the dresses cost originally.. I have 8 BMs in total-- so, there is another dress discount- but maternity dresses are not included in the discount.

I just feel like- if she thinks she is going to be there-- why is she omitted from getting a dress? Especially, when I picked Jenny Yoo to accomodate her and another BM who may have been pregnant.

I entirely agree...this is your day, not hers, and she should suck it up and buy the dress. Jenny's dresses are so stylish she will wear again, so why can't this be her dressy maternity dress? $300 or whatever.

Actually- umprompted-- she emailed me last night-- weird, since we also work together but whatever.. She said she thought about it and I am right- that if she is going to be there it should be how I want it- so, she is going to get a dress.. issue over. It helps to have known that regardless- I was right for feeling the way I did.. I freakin' love LIW.
