Repost from BHB: Need help with addressing some invitations

My FH wants to invite some people to the wedding at his work. (He works at a school) But he doesn't know the names of most of the spouses of the people he wants to invite. Would it be terrible for him to write on the envelope: Mrs. Jane Doe and Husband? He is not mailing them, just handing them, and he is not very close with the people either. TIA

I think it's ok for him to ask them what their spouse's names are and also addresses, and you should mail them. It seems to me if they're close enough to be invited to the wedding, they should be close enough to be asked that info. My co-worker asked me for my address for her wedding invites....they'll find out they're invited when they get the invitation anyway, not like it's a secret

So I would say have him ask them for their significant other names!
