repost from BHB........EBAY

for those of you who bid on things on ebay........
I bid on soemthing and long story short, I lost.
I get an email today from the seller saying that the winning bidder didnt pay (the item was up to $275.00) and offered to sell it to me for $100
Ummmmmmm
is that normal?

I just never heard of this and dont know if I should stay far away or take it?

If that was the case (the winner didnt buy it), usually the seller would re-post it hoping that the bid would go up near $275 again.

I think the situation is shady! Be careful!

the concept is legit.. however if its the guy emailing you its not.. the email woudl come from ebay and it would be called a '2nd chance' or something
that part is legit...
but do not do it if its just the email

The email would say 2nd Chance Notification, and the seller would mention that they are offering the product for whatever the price. It doesn't matter that the item went up to $275, if your maximum bid was $100, then most likely that is why they are offering for that price.

The message would look like this:

I got an email from Ebay Transaction........

says BUY THE ITEM YOU RECENTLY BID ON
It says also that the seller prefers western union money transfer............

The seller's verefied payment address is in LONDON but the listing says Maryland???

Something doesnt seem right?

If the email doesn't look like the picture I posted, then delete it - it's a scam. The sender is 'Second Chance Offer from Ebay'. It would SPECIFICALLY show the item you were bidding on.

I've won auctions that said it was from California and I'd find out later it was from Japan (which of course pissed me off when I tried to return the item or get a refund).

What you have looks like fraud, my friend.
