repost from brides helping brides- need help- photo montage

Hi everyone!

I am confused. How many of you are doing photo montage? I have never seen this done at a wedding before but FMIL says she wants it more than anything and will pay for it. she said it was so beautiful at FH cousin's wedding. I talked to his cousin and she said it was the highlight of her wedding - and that everyone was so impressed by it. it sounds risky- it sounds like it could be either tacky or beautiful!? everyone is gonna cry? but FMIL said good crying- its a way to honor everyone -including those who have passed.. at first i thought it was JUST the people who have passed away but his cousin said it was every single guest invited including family members who have passed away. so thats a lot of pictures.... and should we do it before we are announced as bride and groom or during the dinner ? and who does it photographers or djs? and how much would that cost!?

i think i would like it if it was one song length, us growing up with pictures of immediate family, grandparents, 1st cousins, some group shots of others, bridal party people......

when i told my mother about a photo montage she turned ghost white in shock and said it was no way happening and so ridiculous but as i explained it more she seemed to warm up to the idea.

feedback would be soooo appreciated...

thanks everyone!! <3

I've never seen a photo montage of those who have passed... I keep getting flashbacks to the one they do at the Academy Awards.

I think it would be OK if you played a really upbeat happy song during the remembrance montage... Then do another one 'through the years' type of you and FH, that way it ends on a really happy note and those who did cry would have stopped, you know?

I personally would say no to it... but then again, I don't want a montage at all.....

Good luck!!

i think a foto montage is an awesome idea.

you dont need to put just people who passed but i think pics of the bride and groom, then grandparents/parents who have passed, family(immediate who are alive ) and friends in the Bridal party is sufficient...either one song length or 2 song lengths is good...and probably throught dinner...you can do it at 2 different courses to..

its a great way to show your love for those celebrating in ur most important day...but u dont need to include EVERY guest.

hope that helps....

The DJ is the one who does this...For my e-party the dj did this for us, I knew he took pics but didnt know he did a photo montage, he e-mailed me the DVD...we didnt play it at the party but he just gave to me to have, but at weddings they do that.

Ive never seen it done with those who have passed away though, it probably has been done just never personally seen it myself

Im not such a big fan of the montage....

There's already so much going on that I think it detracts from the party...

but that's just me.

Re: repost from brides helping brides- need help- photo montage

my cousin did a montage - and i would like to do a short one

it will not be about people who have passed though. although they will be included.

for example, i will include a few pictures of me alone and one of them will include my grandmother holding me as a baby - she passed away last year. so i would have lets say three pics with family, three pics with me and my friends - showing a progression of age from being a baby to HS years

then three pics of FH with his family (growing up, including one with his late grandfather) and then three pics of FH growing up alone or with friends.

then since we have been together for nine years, i will show pictures of us together as we grow older - at my sweet 16, junior prom, on vacation and finally engagement.

I like the montage - especially when it is done DURING the dinner so that way it doesnt cut away from people dancing etc. Everyone seemed to enjoy it at my cousin's wedding and if we can fit it into the budget I will include it

It will in no way be about people who have passed. . . I have never seen it done that way.

Thannk you for all your feedback!!

i like the idea of an upbeat song to it - that would help!!

It sounds like its something his family enjoys - they are 80 people people and i got 10 !! : ) so if i can find a way to do it that i like too then i probably will : )

any one else !! i appreciate more ideas and feedback!!

awe thats sweet that u've been together since sweet 16 !! i like the idea of dinner time too this way it does not interfere with dancing and also it wont distract our grand entrance!!

I just learned about it this weekend when I was home in Long Island. My parents saw it at the bridal show last week and had seen it at a wedding before. At first I was apprehensive but I really like the idea after it was explained to me. I just explained it to my FH and he was in too. His family is from Philly and mine NY its a good way for our guests to get to know us through pictures. We're going to do it before our grand entrace and I think that's a perfect way to start the party!!!

Some DJs use this photo-montage that was taken from your wedding itself but I don't think this is what you meant...

I've been to a wedding that did a photo montage during the wedding but this is a Filipino Wedding which traditionally, reception is a sit down dinner alone.

So you can show as much pictures you'd like including the ones that had passed away. It was played the whole time people were eating. It's cute in a way.

If you'd like your guests to get up their seats and dance, this is not going to work tho.

If you'd like you can try to do this on a rehearsal dinner instead.
